My vote goes to "Hey Little Tomboy" as the worst, but "Summer of Love" is down there keeping it company.

I agree with B.E. and Kapitan (and probably others, too) that "Summer Of Love" is the worst song. For years, I have listed it at the very top of the list as the worst BB song. However, since the comedy/talk/skit tracks are included on this list, I'm not going to ignore them. Not only were they bad and boring, but they took the place of other potential songs. Of course Brian and the band didn't know it at the time - and probably wouldn't have cared anyway - but I think those comedy/talk/skit songs detract (you can't avoid/ignore them!) from the OVERALL greatness of those early albums. And, in the age we're living in now, where there are always lists and polls, it's frustrating to nuts like me who still root for the band in those polls.
So, all of that being said, my vote goes to "Bull Session With The Big Daddy". Unlike all of the skit tracks, "Bull Session With The Big Daddy" has zero musical merit. I mean, at least those other tracks had some singing and playing; there was some degree of...musical entertainment. "Bull Session" has none. It's literally the guys sitting at a table eating, spewing non-funny one-liners and telling boring stories. I try to imagine myself, a 16 year-old fan back then in 1965, listening to that track, and wondering if I would be enjoying listening to the Beach Boys' voices, or would I be walking to the record player to change the album or turn it off. And, to think they could've could've closed this classic album with "She Knows Me To Well", "In The Back Of My Mind" or..."Guess I'm Dumb". If you're concerned, in hindsight, with how the talk tracks detract from the overall greatness of those early albums, I think you gotta factor in sequencing. To me, that far outweighs whether one has some degree of musical merit or none. So, after "Summer of Love" gets voted off, I think I'll probably turn my attention to KDS' pick "Cassius vs Sonny". It is sort of fun to try to imagine what we'd think as 16 year-olds in 1965, though (or what the average teenage fan would have thought). Sure, pop/rock music was starting to get a little more serious and albums were starting to be viewed a bit differently. But...emphasis on starting. I honestly think most fans, then and now, would hear "In The Back Of My Mind" has the album closer and would recognize the talk track as something extra. And back then, we'd probably think it was pretty cool to hear the guys talk and get that little insight into the members of the group. All we'd really have had access to, beyond what we hear on the records, is what was printed on the jackets, some blurbs in teen magazines and possibly a television appearance or two if you were lucky enough to catch it live. Now, if you were fanatical, ignoring Beatlemania and everything else, solely listening to Today! over and over and over, yeah, I imagine you'd get tired of it REALLY quick and would be jumping to turn it off. But it speaks to the lingering view of rock music and LPs back then. No one expected it to be relevant 60 days later, let alone 60 years. Ourselves included, most likely.

Is this going to be using the poll function or just vote by discussion? Just vote by discussion, if it's like its predecessors. (It's too late to start a poll now anyway.) I assume everyone will have to keep tabs on what they've voted for, as the list will stay the same throughout. TCK will reveal all when the time is right! Perhaps The Cincinnati Kid will post the voting results at the end of each round along with a revised list. That's how pixletwin ran his survivor series at SSMB. Remember that? Whatever the case, we're up and running and off to a good start.

I am guessing some of you would have preferred those abridged versions of albums Capitol put out in the early 80's. They removed two tracks from every album before Party and Pet Sounds - Concert and Christmas being the only exceptions. That meant they could cut the stupid talk tracks. I'm surprised, though, that Capitol didn't request the Beatles to cut some talk tracks for their albums. Theirs would have at least been funny. I don't know that the Beach Boys, as people, were particularly humourous - except for Brian. They should have had a talk track with Brian saying "somebody go get me a candy bar, then we'll have world peace" or "here I am blabbing my head off. I like food!"

They cut more than the talk tracks. I still don't forgive Capitol from deleting "Amusement Parks U.S.A." from Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) which became California Girls.

Okay, that is earlier than the 80's versions I'm familiar with. I have seen those albums on Giggens You Tube channel, but not sure that I've ever come across them in a store. I do know that there was a Capitol album in the 80's called Be True to Your School that collected up the stray tracks that had been removed from the early albums.

Oh, yes, I know the ones you are referring to in the 80's; I bought them, too.

My 80’s Capitol reissues of Pet Sounds, Wild Honey, Smiley Smile and Friends aren’t missing any tracks. I think that ended with Summer Days/California Girls. Great vinyl pressings that used to be had for cheap - but now someone wants $100 on Discogs for the one green label I’m missing - 20/20.

I'll also go with Summer of Love to get it out of the way. I like it in sort of a corny way, but I get that it's not what the Beach Boys should have been doing, nor should it have been pushed so much as a single.

I'm still gonna vote for that stinky feet song! I accept that feet serve a purpose, but I don't like looking at them or smelling them! Now I will admit to crushing on several 'tomboys' when I was much younger. And then one day...she's not the little girl I once knew.
