I rewatched Good Morning Vietnam yesterday - the 1987 film starring Robin Williams as a military DJ in 1965 Saigon - and was surprised by the amount of Beach Boys references:
- "I Get Around" was very prominently featured early in the film - "Don't Worry, Baby" and "The Warmth of the Sun" were played (albeit very quietly) in the background of two other scenes - Robin Williams' character advocated for getting the Beach Boys to come perform for the troops - The All Summer Long album is clearly shown being placed back on the shelf by the DJ - A character in the film corrects another when they misidentify a Beach Boys song

Barbie will be having a lot of "Fun Fun Fun." Last night, Mike Love introduced "Fun, Fun, Fun" by specifically mentioning (in a humorous way) that The Beach Boys are featured in the Barbie movie. It was met with some laughter but mostly applause as a photo of Barbie appeared on the large screen on stage.

Here's a video my brother pointed me at last night. It's Roy Wood's tribute to early '60s music in general and that of Carl and the Boys in particular: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Wood

I slightly belatedly realized a show I'd begun--Life & Beth, by comic Amy Schumer and with Michael Cera--had a new, second season that began in mid-February.
So, about seven and a half minutes into episode one of season two, "Vegetables."
