When will Vince McMahon - and others - learn? You cannot compete with the NFL. As much as some football fans are obsessed with the sport, if it's not the NFL, it's not gonna make it.

Even if not for COVID19, I don't see how it would've lasted too long. Agreed. I think COVID19 just gave an excuse for the inevitable. My experience--admittedly anecdotal--was that nobody cared about it. The NFL is such an established brand, and we're so used to football in the Fall and early Winter, that I think a late Winter / early Spring football league is a really tough sell for most people. Plus, there just isn't enough talent to go around. I remember when the CFL experimented with US expansion in the first half of the 90s. Four of the teams folded, and the one quasi successful one, the Baltimore Stallions, found themselves without a home when the Browns moved to town, so they moved to Montreal.

One of my favorite Baltimore Colts growing up, linebacker Mike Curtis passed away at the age of 77. CTE is the suspected cause of death. Mike was a great player, should be in the NFL Hall Of Fame, and is best known for tackling a fan who ran onto the field during a game.

I wonder what other former teammates or veterans who are FAs might also team up with him.

I'm very surprised by this. I thought Gronk was happy with his other pursuits like wrestling, acting, and partying. I also thought Gronk was very concerned about the toll the rigors of the NFL took on his body, especially head trauma.
I'm not as big of a fan of the Tom Brady signing as most. I think the guy has regressed significantly and I'll be surprised if the Bucs go far into the playoffs. Just an early prediction - for whenever football happens.

I don't feel strongly about Brady moving. I had no strong feelings about him either way, or either team. If I were a fan in the New England area, I'd be heartbroken though. As for Tampa, you'd think they'd go all-in on guys they think can win ASAP.

How are fans feeling about their teams' drafts?
I'm moderately pleased, not super excited, about the Vikings'. I will say this, though, I am thrilled to see five Gophers get picked! It has been quite a while since we were so well represented in a draft, with S Antoine Winfield Jr (first round), WR Tyler Johnson, LB Kamal Martin, LB/DE Carter Coughlin and CB Chris Williamson all selected. We also had a DIII OT named Ben Bartch taken, out of St. John's (Minn.).
The Vikings ended up taking an insane FIFTEEN players: 3 CBs, 2 OT, 2 WR, 2 S, 2 DE, and 1 apiece DT, OG, QB, and LB. Our biggest needs were unquestionably offensive line and secondary, so the numbers represented there are at least reason for some kind of hope. A WR wasn't necessarily our top need, but LSU's Justin Jefferson is reputed to be well worth that choice.
I'd have loved to see a local kid taken, but oh well.

In the 1st Round the Eagles drafted WR/punt returner Jalen Reagor, a speedster out of TCU. Eagles fans thought they should've leaped in front of Dallas and snatched CeeDee Lamb - easier said than done. Fans also thought they should've taken Justin Jefferson instead of Reagor, but they're close.
The 2nd Round pick, QB Jalen Hurts is a head scratcher. Why spend a 2nd Round pick (No. 53 overall) on a backup QB? The Eagles are desperate for more weapons for Carson Wentz in addition to filling several holes on defense and the offensive line. There's no way to justify this pick. Yes, Wentz is injury prone, but they could've signed a veteran backup QB, one who has experience. Hurts is athletic and has a lot of potential, but if Wentz does go down, do you want to turn the team over to an unproven rookie who might not even have a training camp?
The rest of the Eagles' draft graded pretty high.

I was surprised at Jalen Hurts, too. I like him, but as you said, Philly has Carson Wentz. Odd choice, unless they know something we don't know.

I don't follow the players too closely (unless they play for UC or are a guy like Joe Burrow), but everyone seems very pleased with what the Bengals did with all of their picks. I'm a little more cautiously optimistic about Burrow than most people, but he did have the greatest season in college football history, so I guess that cancels out not really having done anything before that.

I haven't taken too deep of a dive into the Ravens draft yet, but most of the beat writers in Baltimore think Eric DeCosta did a fine job. Losing CJ Mosely after the 2018 season left a whole at middle LB, which will hopefully be filled by Patrick Queen.
We also got some wide receivers who should play pretty well in the Lamar Jackson system. I was a little surprised they drafted a running back, JK Dobbins, in the second round, but I guess they figure Mark Ingram won't last forever.

Usually that does seem to be the turning point for running backs' productivity. Not always, of course, but often. Probably makes sense to look ahead. The big question in these situations is, how does the vet handle it?

I imagine the pick might have been influenced by Ingram not being 100% for the Ravens' playoff loss against the Titans.

The Gophers' RB philosophy back in the early 00s (the era of future NFLers Marion Barber III, Laurence Maroney, and Thomas Tapeh) was that you need "a pair, and a spare." Current coach PJ Fleck has returned to that philosophy here.
I don't think you need to go three deep in the NFL ... but even if you don't worry so much about "the spare," it sure is nice to ensure you've got "a pair."
Then again your quarterback is almost as good a running back as there is in the league (not that you want him running that much).

"A pair" is definitely necessary, especially if one goes down. Not having that luxury killed the Ravens in 2001, coming off a Super Bowl win. We'd lost Priest Holmes to KC, and Jamal Lewis got hurt in training camp. The RB situation was so bad, we coaxed Terry Allen out of retirement.
