I've got a specific item to chat about this morning, but it has a short shelf life, so I thought I'd start a more expansive thread on album cover art. That broad topic could go any number of directions, whether favorites, most despised, clever, whatever. (The thread title is from this song, by the way. Not the original mix, but it has the official video. The tune was once called the indie "Bohemian Rhapsody," which is silly.)
The specific topic I had in mind today? The influence of the Beatles' Let It Be cover art. How many albums can you think of that seem to be inspired by it? These come to mind for me.
KISS, Dynasty
Talking Heads, Remain in Light
Queen, Hot Space
Motley Crue, Shout at the Devil
Poison, Looks What the Cat Dragged In Blur, Best of
U2, Pop Gorillaz, Demon Dayz

Looked around and found this album from 2004. I've never heard anything by Phish -- I always thought they were a spoof band like Spinal Tap.

Looked around and found this album from 2004. I've never heard anything by Phish -- I always thought they were a spoof band like Spinal Tap. Far from it! They're more an improv-oriented band, a jam band with quite a bit of skill. Not my thing, but they have a very dedicated fan base, I think something like modern-day Deadheads. (I do know their guitarist, Trey Anastasio, is a Zappa fan. Kudos to him there.)
Thanks for another example, by the way.
