Maybe I'm just starting to transition to the age that I like less and less of modern pop culture, but I feel more and more like comedy today is more about being quirky, or edgy, or cringey than being actually funny.
I honestly don't know if a standup like Louie would be noticed today.

R.I.P Peter Robbins (August 10, 1956 - January 18, 2022) who was the original voice of Charlie Brown, including the 1965 TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. Peter had a lifelong battle with mental illness (bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia) and his family announced that he died by suicide.

Very sad. I read in a different article (I can't find it now), but apparently he was quite distraught when they passed off the voice duties of Charlie Brown to another, younger voice actor.

R.I.P. actor William Hurt (3/20/50 - 3/13/22). I can't say I was a big fan of his though I enjoyed his work, but he starred in one of my favorite movies, Body Heat.

Another veteran comedian has died: Gilbert Gottfried passed away at age 67 after a long illness, apparently muscular dystrophy. As far as I know, he never was public about that illness. It certainly puts this bit more into perspective.
He could be very, very filthy and inappropriate ... but he wasn't only those things. He was extremely funny. RIP to one of the good ones.

And we were just talking about him last week in the Problem Child thread.

Rough stretch for comedians of that approximate vintage: Norm Macdonald, Bob Saget, Louie Anderson and Gilbert Gottfried all within about 6-7 months?

Actor Liz Sheridan died early this morning, just days after her 93rd birthday. Name doesn't ring a bell? It didn't for me either, but she played Jerry Seinfeld's mom throughout the series Seinfeld. (She also was in Alf, which I watched and loved as a kid. Somehow I never made the connection!)
Crazily, she died just about a week after Estelle Harris, who played George Costanza's mom, Estelle, on the show.
They were two of the greatest supporting cast members in sitcom history in my opinion, and both hilarious. Don't tell my mom how often Sheridan's Mrs. Seinfeld reminded me of her!

When Estelle Harris died last week, I told my wife, "I think all the Seinfeld parents are gone but Liz Sheridan."

RIP to ... Microsoft Internet Explorer! Today, the old standard web browser is retiring. It's kind of funny thinking back over the different browsers that have come and gone. I never pay much attention to them except when there's a new one I'm supposed to use, and inevitably--just like with every new version of Windows apps like Word or Excel--I hate the new ones. Every. Single. Time.
I'm trying to recall the various browsers I've primarily used over the years: Mosaic, Netscape Navigator, IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Edge...I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

A great actor, and I'll add Brian's Song, The Gambler, and Thief to that list. But, yes, I immediately think of Sonny Corleone...

R.I.P. Paul Sorvino (April 13, 1936 - July 25, 2022), actor, opera singer, writer, sculptor, and father of actress, Mira Sorvino. Sadly, Paul is the second cast member of Goodfellas to pass away in the last two months (Ray Liotta died on May 26, 2022).

Hall of Fame QB Len Dawson, who had entered hospice care earlier this month, died. He was a 7-time All-Star, 2-time All-Pro, and won Super Bowl IV over the heavily favored Vikings. He was 87 years old.
