I know there is an R.I.P. thread, but since the subject is Billy Hinsche, I thought it should be posted on The Beach Boys thread. I am very sad about his passing away. Billy was an integral part of The Beach Boys and his videos gave amazing the insight into the group and it’s members, especially Carl. His video of “On the Road with The Beach Boys” is one of my favorite Beach Boys documentaries. He was Carl Wilson’s Brother in Law and a Member of one of the first “Boy Bands” - Dino, Desi and Billy”. Truly a sad day. He was ever youthful! Also - his Facebook Live, will be truly missed!

I am just in shock. Keith Allison - of Paul Revere and the Raiders - just passed away two days ago.

I am devasted. Billy was one of the good guys, who (like Carl) never met a stranger.
He deserves to be discussed here, since he's part of the extended Wilson family.

"Liking" carllove's post didn't feel right -- i was just appreciative of it. Yes indeed, Billy belongs here. I can imagine you're devastated, Em. Thinking of you, Billy's family (especially Annie) and everyone else who loved him.

I know what you mean, jk: I've often thought the same thing about "liking" posts that have bad news. But there's no really appropriate thing, there's no "appreciate" button.
Very sad news. He was a key part of those great live bands not to mention apparently a really good friend to several of the guys. Apparently he had a short struggle with lung cancer. And he died the same day as his mother (95).

Well, this is just terrible news, and on the same day that his mother passed. The cause of death was lung cancer, the same illness that Carl Wilson had. I can't help but think of Annie Hinsche right now...
We were recently discussing Billy in the Single Of The Week thread, with his early vocal on "Honkin' Down The Highway". And, just last night, I was watching a new documentary on Dean Martin and Billy was interviewed for the film. The documentary had pictures and film clips of Dino, Desi, & Billy, and a few photos of Carl Wilson.
Billy was part of the Beach Boys, solo Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Al, solo Brian, and the Wilson family worlds for over five decades. Such a loss. Thank you for the music, Billy, and being a friend of The Beach Boys. R.I.P.

Thanks for the link! Great article. I had no idea that he was only 70 years old! Wow.

I looked around and found this non-charting 1968 gem of a 45 from DD&B:
