We all seem to like a lot of bands / artists. So, it's natural to go through phases where we don't listen to a certain group for a while. I was thinking about this yesterday, unfortunately due to Dusty Hill's death. I put on some ZZ Top, and it struck me that I'd barely listened to them over the last couple years. I found myself really enjoying it, and I'm listening to more now.
These are artists I still like, but forever reason just haven't paid attention to lately. Hell, until I posted my opinions on the Floyd catalog about a year and a half ago, I'd barely listened to them, and they're my favorite band. So, on July 29, 2021, here are some of mine
Judas Priest - One of my all time favorite metal bands. Other than going back and trying to listen to their 2018 album Firepower, thanks to a glowing review from Pete Pardo at Sea of Tranquility, I've barely listened to them for a few years now. Even a recent read of Rob Halford's autobiography didn't make me want to go back into their classics.
Billy Idol - I'm a casual Idol fan, but I cannot even remember the last time I purposely put on an Idol CD, and I've never pulled up one of his songs or albums on Spotify.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Again, casual fan. And, in general, I'm more of a casual fan with southern rock, but that music tends to fair pretty well with summertime. I cannot recall the last time I had any desire to listen to Skynyrd.
U2 - Actually, after U2 popped up on a "most hated" bands list, I went back to re-listen to some of their 80s albums, but I'll admit I kinda lost interest halfway through The Unforgettable Fire.
Aerosmith - I didn't even realize how little I listened to Aerosmith until pulling up their Wayne's World / SNL sketch this past weekend tuning some tipsy YouTube watching. I used to love them, they were actually my first concert. I never even bothered to buy, or even listen to their most recent album, which is shockingly almost ten years old now. Do they even exist anymore?
AC/DC - I listened to their new album that I got as a Christmas gift. I cannot remember a single note, other than the fact that it was definitely an AC/DC album.
Free / Bad Company - Other than a song or two here and there, I've barely listened to Paul Rodgers's most famous bands lately.
Perhaps someday I'll come around on some of these. My list probably would've looked far different ten years ago.
