While not artistically up there with the early 70s, I'd like to see a catch all collection for the non album tracks that they did later in their career in the 80s and 90s (ie. Sea Cruise, East Meets West, Problem Child, and maybe even the UK version of SIP). I'm not holding my breath as something like that would only appeal to the most obsessive BB fan, and likely wouldn't even get a physical release. I've said before that they could've easily put these tracks of GV or MiC instead of padding those boxes (especially MiC) was previously released material. Yes, it's hard to believe but there are still some BB songs that are not yet available on CD - and they've had enough comps and boxed sets to include them. I don't think "Chasin' The Sky" and "Happy Endings" have appeared on CD yet. Granted, they're not exactly great songs, but I think they should still be available.

And I had to buy the out of print Made in USA collection to get Rock and Roll to the Rescue. Again, it's no masterpiece, but it's nice to have.

Obviously doesn't say definitively it would be physical, and yes, we all expected something would be coming (even if digital only). But it's still nice to see it in print!

Bumping the thread because I was just thinking, if there is to be a digital-only follow-up to Feel Flows, we are nearing the time when it is likely to drop.
Remember--and bellesofparisstan mentioned this earlier in the thread--there have been similar, digital-only versions of some previous archival releases, including Sunshine Tomorrow (which was similarly a physical release first).
Fingers crossed.

I may have bought my last ever Beach Boys archival physical release. I hope not. I hope we get something for Carl and the Passions/So Tough and Holland. Maybe include The Beach Boys In Concert in that one. After that, I really don't care.

A CATP and Holland physical release would be great. I expect that an In Concert package could include the original album plus another disc of performance highlights, but is more likely to be a digital release of concerts.

It sounded like the next one may well be a physical release from what I understood Alan Boyd to be saying during the BBs Talk appearance which he was referring to as Sail On Sailor.
“That’s what we are working on… and the success of this one is really making this all possible, so we’re working on rough cuts and tracklists… so yeah, I want to call it Sail On, Sailor. It’ll be 72, it’ll be… ya know… Carl and the passions session stuff, Holland, and we want to include a complete Carnegie Hall from November 72. And we’ve got two shows, they recorded two shows that night, and they also did two shows… almost identical A couple days earlier in Passaic New Jersey, which in some cases The performances are actually better there, and there’s a batch of those actually on the InConcert album from… I think The first Passaic concert.” “Oh yeah, I mean one thing we want to do particularly with those albums, but particularly with Carl and the passions, is we particularly want to offer a new mix of that entire album… I mean, not to replace the original one but just to have it in there as an extra thing.”
Of course it might be digital only. But it seems at least it's likely to happen. And I'd guess that it is a better candidate for physical release than almost anything else that will come after, as far as copyright release eras go.

If they title it Sail On Sailor, I guarantee that will sell an extra 10,000 units. It's the only post-60's track that casual fans might know, other than Mike's Greatest Hit.

I hope I'm wrong about this, but after the digital-only release of the 1968 material I would be surprised if a physical release of the '72 era tunes sees the light of day. But then again, I was surprised (and overjoyed) when I first read about the Feel Flows box (oh, how many years ago? ) But then again....and again....will there be anything earth-shattering excavated from here on? Heck, I don't even have the cd twofer of CATP/Holland (although I've got 'em on vinyl).

Well, it's about 14 months since this thread saw any action, but it seems it's a reasonable time to get it going again. Because while we weren't certain yet when this thread began, we did indeed get a physical set for '72, Sail On Sailor. (Quite a good one, if imperfect, in my opinion.)
So ... what's next? I mean, obviously there will be at least digital dumps every year just to satisfy the copyright extensions, but they could be those brief, temporary ones; more significant but still online-only; physical albums; and more extensive, "deluxe" physical box sets.
What are you all expecting, having another year+ of experience to use as hindsight while projecting forward? And what do you all hope for?

I'm not sure how much is on the cutting room floor, as it's not my favorite era by any means, but maybe a Brian's Back era release in the next few years. Behind that, there are not really any era specific releases that I would expect.
I'll repeat my wish from late summer 2021 for a catch all release for all of the non album 80s and 90s Beach Boys tracks, many of which have never received a proper release on any Beach Boys product.
But, I think more realistically, I could forsee more live material coming out in some form or another over the years.

I've seen it floated out there to release a bunch of live shows, but not necessarily a box set again. That could be a nice release to hold us over until the Brian's Back era. Then in 2026 we'll probably get a 60th anniversary Pet Sounds.

I think that if there's another full box set coming, it's going to be Brian's Back: The 15 Big Ones/Love You Sessions 1976-77.
There is a lot of material there for both more oldie-oriented fans with all the 15BO (and similar, yet unreleased) covers, and then a Brianista's dream with not just Love You (those demos, for example), but some still officially unreleased Adult/Child material. While the latter is for the hardcore fan and wasn't ever commercially successful, the former did pretty well, putting the band's new studio album in the Top 10 for the first time in a decade and spawning a pair of Top 30 singles. There would also be loads of live material from those years. And the whole narrative of the "Brian's Back" story makes for another moment to capture, a justification for new liner notes and interviews.
After that, though, I can't imagine many, if any, deluxe physical releases. Not unless there turns out to be a lot more Dennis or Carl material from the latter 70s that would somehow convince Iconic and/or the band and/or their labels that something warrants a release with serious promotion around it. I'm not saying there isn't anything to release, or that they won't release something every year to satisfy copyright extension laws. Just that I don't see physical, and especially deluxe physical, releases.
