Near the end of the above video, Al Jardine says, "(we were) handicapped by a lot of issues including the, ah, technical stuff..."
Does anybody know what he is talking about?
I took it to reference the difference between a professional studio with trained personnel on the one hand and a home studio where they're handling more themselves. Troubleshooting, setup, routing, etc. I realize they had engineers there working, but you have to assume their at-home, hands-on approach had its downside in terms of support. Yeah, that's what I thought of first, but weren't the previous four studio albums starting with Smiley Smile in 1967 mostly recorded in Brian's home studio?

But the comment isn't necessarily truly specific to the two albums covered in the video. I mean, it would seem that way to a viewer. But to Al (not known for his historical accuracy anyway) it might just be a statement describing what he remembers as "the era." Not "well one thing that was REALLY different about, and unique to, Sunflower/Surf's Up was..."

Really fun listening to the "Feel Flows" track and background vox. Something I never noticed, there is an insane amount of reverb in the left speaker, I think probably from the percussion you hear in the right on every beat. So it's this funny wash roughly 1/16th note after each beat in the left.

While I'm at it, the "San Miguel" remix. Sounds great.

So will this ship on the 27th, or will it be delivered on that date? I’m getting so excited! It’s been a long wait! Apple Music should have it available on that date, so it looks like I might have to hang out in my office and do paperwork that day!

I've heard of numerous fans saying that their arrival date is well into September. Consider yourself lucky if that Aug. 27th arrival date holds up! It seems that even after postponing the set yet again (from July to Aug.) they are still having issues delivering the physical set.

I didn't order until earlier this month. I have had several experiences (especially with music) with Amazon where they do end up received on the release date despite having said they'd be later. I'm hoping that's the case here.
Otherwise I guess I'll just be streaming for a couple weeks before I can enjoy the physical set and read the liner notes (which is the main reason I ordered it).

Obviously a lot of what they used there is old and often seen before, but some of those clips were new to me and cool to see. Thanks for posting.

I wonder who chose the tile because it's pretty clear now with the backing track and vocals version of Feel Flows that they're actually saying white puff glistening.

The contention that Carl had the voice of an Angel is of course inscribed upon his tomb. For those who have never visited it it's a moving experience as you take those few steps from Dean Martin and Minnie Riperton and come up on Carl's grave. And after that you move over to Roy Orbison and Frank Zappa's unmarked grave and then of course Peggy Lee and Mel Torme and then Buddy Rich, one of a kind. Pretty amazing musical band that could get together at the stroke of midnight.

But... you say Frank's grave is unmarked? Like Murry's?? I find both instances totally beyond my comprehension...

If I were famous (which obviously and thankfully I am not), I am certain I'd prefer my grave be unmarked. (For that matter, I don't even care if I have a grave. Once I'm dead, do what you want with the leftovers.) I'd probably prefer it of any famous loved ones I had, too, though obviously I wouldn't make the choice for them.
