The official Beach Boys FB page is now saying Aug. 27 for the release date. Including for the digital release, do you think? Amazon is still showing July 30 for digital, but Aug 27 for the vinyl and CD editions.

Honestly that just makes me more likely to buy digital and not physical. I was thinking the book w/ liners would be cool, but I want to hear the music asap, and I'd rather not buy it twice.
I haven't looked closely, but is there a free digital download when you buy the physical releases, and (if so), maybe that's still available July 30, with packages to ship later?
If that's not the case, yeah, I might be going with digital only.

I'm sticking with the 5CD set but I'm starting to second guess myself. There are several of those 30-50 second snippets of vocals or backgrounds only and short instrumental tracks which are nice, but at the same time, those are the ones that you listen to once or twice and rarely, if ever, revisit again.

I'm definitely going for the full set, just to get all the goodies. The question for me is just that of physical or not, especially since I hate waiting!
But also because those hard copies, while durable in theory, are very much disposable in my reality: they are used once or twice, perused upon those first listens, but then set on some shelf somewhere and generally ignored for years and years, rarely if ever pulled out again. (The music, I almost always just put onto my laptop for more convenient listening.)

Assuming the full five CD set is on Spotify, I'm still going to get the two disc set for my collection.
Most of the three additional discs of material is stuff I'm not likely to listen to more than once anyway.

Honestly, the delay has kind of deflated my enthusiasm for the set. I've waited so long, only to have the rug pulled out again at the last minute is kind of depressing. If it wasn't for my girlfriend getting it for me as an anniversary gift, I probably wouldn't even bother and just listen to it on Spotify. At this point it's an early birthday present (about a month early). Hopefully the digital portion is still a go for July 30th.

Apple Music currently shows the 133 song version of Feel Flows grayed out except for Big Sur and Susie Cincinnati, so I am hoping it will be available to listen to the end of this month. I’m still getting the 5 CD set since I spend a lot of time in my car for work and it’s a 2007, so it has a 6 CD changer (and a cassette player - trying it out this week with a cassette of The Beach Boys Rarities). I’m also looking forward to the liner notes.
I have to agree though that the delay in the hard copy release has me a bit bummed out. I guess maybe it’s like everything else during the pandemic - the resources just aren’t there to supply the demand.

The Beach Boys just posted on their FB page that the release date is now Aug 27. No word on whether or not it'll be available digitally sooner. But it looks like the MP3 version on Amazon is now showing an August 27 street date.

Only the Beach Boys can take a set that was supposedly done more than a year ago and still find ways to miss the already publicly announced release date so as to almost fail to capitalize on their summer associations. (I fully realize that a Feel Flows box doesn't scream "summer" the way that an early-era set would, but their image what it is, it still makes sense to leverage their reputation.)

Thanks for continuing to support us despite our ongoing incompetence."

Thanks for continuing to support us despite our ongoing incompetence." I think transparency goes a long way. I think it's better than the wild speculation that tends to occur in its place, like we saw when the set was delayed before.

But in this case, it's also honestly probably very dull, something not related to the guys at all (other than the delays in their sign-offs or whatever, which caused the yearlong delay to begin with). It's probably Gary down in production at a print shop failing to get the booklets for the 2-disc package completed on time--something entirely uninteresting like that, and where transparency doesn't accomplish much other than maybe assigning blame to some anonymous underling. And short of going into detail, the "transparent" statement would probably just be "delay due to production issues." OK, fine ... but does that really tell us much more than nothing at all?
All that said, it feels like a team getting a delay of game penalty on the first play coming out of a timeout.

I am still wondering if it has to do with waiting until Mike and Brian get back out on the road to promote it, even though I don't think that would make much of an impact. How many people at the concerts would've (or not) purchased some configuration anyway. That's a rhetorical question.
I know I'm repeating myself (that's my forte' ), but how fun would've it been to hear Sunflower as spring was approaching and the weather was getting warmer. Or how nice would've it been to play the set over the Memorial day weekend; not necessarily at a cookout or picnic, but just the long three-day weekend lounging around the house. Or now, how cool would've it been to be hearing the new mix of "4th Of July" on the 4th Of July? CDs could've been burned for summer cruising. The set could've been played on the deck/patio, relaxing with a cool drink. A new 70's Dennis Wilson comp could've been assembled and played on a summer night. And now, by the time we get the thing, the summer will be fading, the days will already be getting shorter, and Christmas decorations will be on sale in the stores. That long promised road continues. Yes, looking at tomorrow, still. Don't go near the water indeed.
