Well, now Mike and Bruce will be on the road on their "Feel Flows" tour for nearly two months before being able to hawk any copies at the merch stand.

This is ridiculous. Time to start taking bets on which will come first - Feel Flows or Get Back?

Honestly, the delay has kind of deflated my enthusiasm for the set. I've waited so long, only to have the rug pulled out again at the last minute is kind of depressing. If it wasn't for my girlfriend getting it for me as an anniversary gift, I probably wouldn't even bother and just listen to it on Spotify. At this point it's an early birthday present (about a month early). Hopefully the digital portion is still a go for July 30th. I have similar feelings. Not gonna rush out to buy it on release day. There's still lots of other new releases I haven't caught up on yet.

It’s simply production delays, nothing to do with the Beach Boys at all. Back in early June when the set was first put up for pre-order, there were already people on other message boards in other parts of the world getting emails that their’s would be delayed into August. It’s clear that due to Covid, and the pressing plant burning down last year, it’s hard for them to pump out this stuff as fast as possible. Sucks but it appears that it’s really not the fault of anyone directly involved. Better to work out the production problems now than to ship out thousands of copies with defective discs. I’m looking at you, made in California

Any guesses as to whether (thanks to the delays) we'll get any other pre-release date singles, and if so, what they may be?
"Big Sur" was June 2. "Susie Cincinnati" was June 25. I'd think they would keep it up every three weeks or so, maybe another one on July 16 and then one August 6, just to keep some kind of momentum and chatter.

My guess is the live version of Long Promised Road.

Well, let's see. First, they chose a Holland song ("Big Sur"), then they chose a 15 Big Ones song ("Susie Cincinnati'), so I guess Love You is next. "Good Time" anyone?

- I LOVE "Good Time," first of all. I'd welcome it!
- Two Al tunes in a row? I'd bet not.
Regardless of the albums these eventually were released on, I also still think they're all more than fair game for release as singles here. They were all recorded in the relevant period (well not the live version of SC) and frankly always sounded like songs that should've been released in that period, at least to my ears. Nothing about "Good Time" screams Love You to me, but it fits right alongside its 1970-71 neighbors.

I would gladly trade "Tears In The Morning" for "Good Time" on Sunflower. And, I don't think "Good Time" should be on Love You, unless they updated the lead vocal by...somebody. It sounds out of place to me, not lyrically or even musically, just that young(er) lead vocal.
Also, I question how much Al contributed to the writing of the song. It sounds very Brian to me, almost totally Brian actually.

It is a very Brianish song. I wonder who did what. The melody and chord progressions are both pretty simple, so maybe one or both were Al's idea? Not the arrangements--those horns were not arranged by Al, I'm sure--but just the basic chords? (If memory serves, the chorus is just C - F - G7 - C, which is about as basic a progression as there is, I-IV-V7.)
And the lyrics are so goofy, I could actually see either of them involved in those.
