Piggy backing on a topic from the Lounge...
Summertime often provides the perfect backdrop for day drinking. Going to the beach, or lake, going camping, having a cookout, attending a festival / fair / carnival, etc lends itself to having a libation in the daytime hours while the sun is out. Does anyone else enjoy a cocktail in the daytime?
Alan Jackson, with an assist from Jimmy Buffett, released an all time anthem for day drinking called It's 5'O Clock Somewhere. So, is that the "cut off" for day drinking? At 5pm, in early summer, you still have a good three hours of daylight, even if it's still the evening.

Well now you're just shaming me!
Seriously, I would rather drink during the afternoon or happy hour than later into the night. I don't mean drink all day long or anything, but it's really nice to get your buzz with the sun out and then slowly return to full sobriety well in advance of bedtime.

Not at all, as day drinking is a pastime of mine. I used to alternate between starting in the daytime and going through the night, and getting the daytime buzz and have it fade before bed. Nowadays, with a little one, when I do get a chance to daydrink, I'll have a few in the late afternoon, pacing myself of course, and having a few more after the little guys goes to bed around 8pm.

Daydrinking is far more appealing to me than saving it for the dark hours. Mostly because I’m solar powered, and once the sun goes down my energy dwindles. Definitely not a night owl. But there is something just so satisfying about cracking a cold one, or sipping a nice tequila and soda out in the sunshine with music on, or even just in the house while cooking, or… yeah, doing chores. I’ve yet to meet a laundry folding, kitchen tidying or dusting session that wasn’t improved by alcohol, lol. Not too early, of course, and only on weekends. But I’m a grown up and I make the rules in my house, and that means a drink before noon is allowed, on occasion.

For me, grilling goes best with daydrinking. I use charcoal, so it's a bit more of a process than propane, but it's far more rewarding in that I find it more relaxing, and the food tastes better.

The food tastes MUCH better, but that's another thread!
My big day-drinking favorites:
- I love a beer while grilling. - I love wine while cooking. - Any drink will do while socializing, especially outdoors. - Sometimes I like wine while reading.

I guess I'm going against the grain here in saying I'm not a huge fan of day drinking unless I'm doing something like canoeing, vacation, etc. I'd rather have a nice cold glass of sweet iced tea or just plain old water. I'd much rather drink at night at a bar or around a campfire. Just drinking at home doesn't have much appeal to me.

I used to prefer going out, but as I got into my 30s, I grew to appreciate at home drinking much more.

Generally, we are fairly strict about confining our drinking activity to between five pm and, say, seven. I tend to drink more than my SO these days--maybe it's tied in with the grieving process although as a rule I tend to drink less if things aren't right... There are exceptions--occasionally I take a whisky with a late TV show or a beer while winding down at the computer before turning in. And of course whatever rules we have get thrown overboard when there are guests. So yes, we have our share of day drinking when the days are long.

I definitely don't drink & shan't begin. Can't stand alcohol fragrance, yuckety yuck. Ditto tobacco. Instead, like orange juice due to being orange fan, you know. & I like mini-tea rituals when you bring tiny cups with tea. & due to being general chocolate fan, I prepare "Nesquik" by mixing its dry chocolate mixture into water. Dislike dairy/milk, usually people mix "Nesquik" with it. I don't. It's the best. Anyhoo, hi all, enjoy day drinking, evening drinking, night drink etc. But, I choose to not be tipsy. Btw, if somebody doesn't keep up with calendar, it's 12th August now. Thus, answer to bellbottom's question "How is it August?" is "August's fine, about to finish soon to meet its brother September".🥰

And if a nervous wreck like me can give up smoking (50 years ago) there's hope for everyone. I'm one of those usual people -- can't beat Nesquik and cold milk in my book. But to each their own, of course. Haha. Give it a couple of weeks, please. Time flies as it is.

I've noticed that whenever I listen to my summer playlist while having an adult beverage that the song "Day Drinking" by Little Big Town only comes up at night, never during the day.
