Most underrated song: Wendy Good one, but in all honesty, it usually makes my Greatest Hits comps.

Regarding "Winds Of Change" and "When Girls Get Together"...
"Winds Of Change" starts out fine, but that middle or bridge is questionable. However it picks up momentum again and the ending really saves the song for me. Brian singing "Won't last forever" doesn't get mentioned enough as great BB moments. It was very emotional hearing in 1978 and it still resonates today.
I always felt that I "got" what Brian and Mike were trying to get across with "When Girls Get Together", both with the music and the lyrics. It's almost a sophisticated song/recording. It's far from a favorite but I don't mind it. "When Girls Get Together" definitely didn't fit on Keepin' The Summer Alive, especially when other more appropriate fun/summer songs were available.

See, now I wasn't expecting to see Winds of Change or When Girls Get Together! I certainly don't think they're great, but not the worst either. What do you dislike about them? "Winds of Change" is just such cheese, I can't deal with it. It also doesn't really sound like a Beach Boys song to me at all. And shockingly I don't even think Al's vocal is very good, especially in the first verse, but also in the key changes at the end of the second version. Background group vocals are admittedly good though.
Cheesy, yes, but pretty. The “won’t last forever” ending seals the cheese deal. But overall I think it sounds nice, totally inoffensive, and I really like the “I am no stranger to a world of change” line.

Most underrated album: Surf's Up, Obviously we disagree as I had Surf's Up as one of my Most Overrated albums. This one hasn't aged well with me. Other than the closing three BW, none of the other songs really get to me, though I don't dislike them (except "Take A Load Off Your Feet"). I just think they are mostly OK to good songs, nothing special. "Disney Girls" would be an exception. I'm also influenced by knowing what Surf's Up could've been with "(Wouldn't It Be Nice) To Live Again" and "4th Of July". I think it's probably the best post-Smile era album. Definitely superior to Sunflower. I'm also in the minority of not believing many Dennis additions would have helped. I could take WIBNTLA, but I hate 4th of July and am glad it wasn't included.

Most Overrated song: Cuddle Up You guys are killing me. What is it that turns you/everybody off? I don't hate it, but I don’t really get the love for it. I think it’s the least interesting of Dennis’ contributions to the Beach Boys catalogue. I find it to be overly sentimental. Dennis went the sentimental route often, and usually I think he handled it well, in a much more measured way. But Cuddle Up just drips with syrup. And it goes on way too long. There are about three potential endings in it. Every time I think it’s about to end, nope, it keeps going. I rarely listen to it all the way through.

Most Overrated song: Cuddle Up You guys are killing me. What is it that turns you/everybody off? Typical of Dennis, too saccharine. Over the top cheese. Syrupy. Others hear a romantic, I hear cloying, over-the-top, excruciatingly dull and drawn-out music.

I actually think the Sunflower is a better overall album, but the high points on Surf's Up are higher. If that makes any sense.

After that, all bets are off.
