Yeah, I've been cutting the grass once a week for over a month now. As you know, you have to get to it before it gets too long, or it's a bear to mow. I'd rather cut the grass one day too soon and not take the chance of it raining and then having to wait a couple days more. By that time, jeez. Like I said, it's been growing like crazy. It does look nice and full and green, though.
You mentioned wood chips; I'm considering them. We used to have mulch around the entire circumference of the house. But, a few years ago, in order to save money and time, and for aesthetic appearances, in some areas we filled in with river stone. I really like it. Obviously it's permanent and maintenance free. I like the look, too. It does fit in with the mulch better than I thought it would. Maybe some day we'll go with river stone entirely. It doesn't appear to adversely affect the growth or survival of the plants and shrubs which was a concern.

I just finished the first mow of the season, long overdue. I'm not sure any beer is more satisfying than a post mow beer.

We had a gorgeous weekend here, especially Sunday. It was finally sunny, and warm enough to put on shorts and spend the day outside. We went for a long trail walk. The trail was pretty busy with other walkers and cyclists, but most people were pretty good about distancing. Since it was the first trail walk of the season I’m feeling pretty sore today. Some of those hills are absolute killers. Afterwards, we came back and drank coronas in the backyard until the wind picked up and it got chilly. It was a glorious day! Now we're back to overcast, unseasonably cold weather again.

Happy Cinco de Cuatro, everyone!
(Forget Star Wars Day, Pi Day, or Festivus: this is the fake holiday the world should celebrate!)

Had several Modelos outside. Listened to some Buffett.

Had several Modelos outside. Listened to some Buffett. Thirded. Both days were really nice. Many hours spent walking the lake, creek, and falls that are within walking distance of here. (Bless you, Minneapolis!) And yes, perhaps a few drinks on the patio. And a few more.

And, I just checked the extended forecast for Baltimore. It looks like today will be the last day for almost two weeks that we see highs in the 70s.

Same here. There is a polar vortex system heading this way just in time for the weekend.

We're forecast to range from highs of 48 (Friday) to 62 (Wednesday). Actually I can deal with that, as Minnesota springs are up and down. Though average highs this time of year are in the mid-60s, so it's a little cooler than normal. But those couple days in the 70s sure were nice, and I look forward to more of them ... especially since it often seems to leap directly from a cool 60 to a muggy 95 around here!

Spring in Maryland is also pretty inconsistent, but it seems like we get very few of those truly perfect days like we had this weekend. Although, usually, by the time we get to mid May, it tends to stay warm....usually. But, nothing about 2020 has been usual.

I'm just waiting for the fire-breathing dragonflies to hatch and make their way west, meeting the murder hornets somewhere in the prairies, so the insect battle can begin.

Well, we almost dipped below freezing again last night. 36, when I woke up this morning. I imagine there was frost outside the city. My apple trees have already blossomed, but I'm hoping having stayed just above the freezing point means they're all right.
