One of the little baby rabbits has met his early demise. Last night I saw him dead about two feet from the hole. I didn't see any gore, and wonder if he got out during the snowstorm and froze. This morning, he's gone: I suspect a cat, hawk or eagle took advantage of the opportunity.

Aw, poor little guy Let's hope he wasn't in line to become the next Easter Bunny.

I don't have much to say lately. Listening to way less music than usual, which is the opposite of what I thought would happen during this time. Actually, I haven't even listened to anything in over a week. Tried a couple times to put on an album, but found myself ignoring it and switched it off. Interesting. I've only listened to one or two CDs in the past year! Lots of things at YouTube but even there less these days. A spot of soothing Baroque tends to suffice in these crazy times.

It's rare for me to go more than a couple days without listening to something, I usually put something on every day. Guess I got a little out of whack for a few weeks there, but it seems to be fixed now

Guess I got a little out of whack for a few weeks there, but it seems to be fixed now I think in my case that it has something to do with the fact that the radio is on a lot downstairs (the official Dutch classical station). That's fine, but it's meant that most of my listening of choice takes place on the iMac upstairs in the shirkroom.

Shirkroom? What a wonderful word. I've never heard it before.

So for the last 5 weeks I’ve been sitting on a super basic hard back wooden chair at my work-from-home desk, and it has been destroying my back. I was toying with the idea of sneaking into my work building and stealing my office chair to bring home. But my husband went out for a walk this morning and found a leather office chair in really good condition on the curb, and he rolled it on home for me. We washed all the covid off it and now I’m comfy, no more kinked up muscles! It’s the little things…

Score!
I've been rotating between three or four spots, trying to find the best one. I have yet to find one I can consider "best," and so I just keep rotating. I feel like I'm enacting a chair-and-desk variation on the Arrested Development scenes with GOB trying to make Kitty attractive: hair up and glasses on; hair up and glasses off; hair down and glasses on; hair down and glasses off ... did we try hair down and glasses on?

Beautiful day, sunshine and a forecast of nearly 70 degrees. I have to say the fresh air (to say nothing of pleasant walks) really make a difference for me, mentally speaking, work wonders these days. So I look forward to taking the laptop out onto the patio this afternoon.
Hope everyone has the good fortune today for similar pleasures.

Beautiful Sunday morning here. I'm almost shockingly content with a belly full of breakfast, windows open, weather close enough to perfect as to deserve the name. I've got an idea for a soup (ham hock, hominy, black beans, ramps, jalapenos, grape tomatoes, onions, carrots, and celery with chicken stock) to simmer and a few things to putter with throughout my lazy day.
Hoping you're all healthy and happy today.

Yeah, a projected high temp of 76 in Central Pennsylvania today.
I'm mostly caught up with yard work. Planted some flowers in all the outside pots. Trimmed some rose bushes. I need to get a few perennials. And I'm ahead of schedule with mulching. Usually I don't get to mulching until Memorial Day but I'm about ready for that. We've had a lot of rain and the grass is growing like crazy. I already cut it five times, but not complaining, that's my exercise!

Oh my gosh, five times!? I haven't cut my lawn yet and don't really need to. Of course, our weather has been substantially worse than yours, both in terms of cooler temps and it seems less rain. I'll probably get out there to do that this week, though.
As for the other work, I do need to trim a few shrubs and definitely need to put down some mulch or wood chips (I go both ways on that) as well as some of the little rock between the patio flagstones. But honestly I'm not even sure the home & garden centers are open. But I'll need to do that sometime, as well as getting some seedlings to get the garden's annuals in there with the perennials.
Generally I'll get a few tomatoes and a few pepper plants, plus some basil. The dill and cilantro are annuals, but enough seeds fall that every year they sprout back up on their own (if a little out of place...). And then the chives, thyme, savory, mint, and oregano return on their own. The rosemary and sage aren't looking too hot, so we'll see whether they return or require replacement.
I'm not much of a gardener--too lazy and not detail-oriented enough for caretaking tips--but I love to cook. So I do like at least to have herbs.
