I thought the Beatles actually talked to reporters the way they did in the movie. Sheesh, if you think the Fabs are rude in AHDN, you better not watch Don't Look Back.

Good performance. Crazy to think he was nearly 10 years older than John was when he died.

I think the Washington Coliseum performance of "Long Tall Sally" is something special. The context adds to it, being their first U.S. concert. You can really tell how excited they were. Paul and Ringo always KILLED "Long Tall Sally". It's remarkable how effortlessly Paul sings the "woo-ooo-ooh's" in the performance posted by SJS. To my ears, he couldn't have sung it better. Incredible. At the Coliseum, there are so many moments to love. George's guitar is hard to hear, and it almost looks like John looks over the drums to make sure he's playing (at 38:50). Later on John drops his pick and hurriedly picks it back up and is really enjoying playing rhythm and just rockin' out with the band while Paul and Ringo steal the show (the comradery of the early Beatles is off the charts!). Oh, and I love how Paul launches into the song by starting to sing while turning towards the mic. Then, at 39:01 Paul leaps up, vocally, on "and he ducked back in the alley" and swings his arm. That's just a fun improvisation on his part. Then near the end (at 39:40 ) he holds the fourth "yeah" extra long. To me, that's just pure adrenaline. I love it. He's giving everything he's got. They all are.
Start the video at approximately 37:30 for "Long Tall Sally":

Obviously The Beatles' influence was immeasurable, but after hearing and seeing them, I wonder how many young boys went home and bought a guitar or a set of drums, and wanted to do THAT?

A biopic about Beatles manager Brian Epstein has been announced. It will be directed by Jonas Akerlund (Polar, Lords of Chaos, and several musical features and videos for which he has won Grammys) and be released in 2021.

I wasn't planning on watching, but I'm glad I did. It was pretty well done for this type of thing (which I think could have been a terrible mess). The only questionable moments IMO were 1) Ben Harper and Dave Grohl's performance sounding out of sync (the fact that they chose a rarity such as "Down And Out" made up for it, though) and 2) that Paul's contribution was a previously available live performance. The way they promoted it, and built it up, had me expecting something new. I'm easy, just an addition of a 15 second greeting from Paul and his family would have sufficed. Odd. Anyway, I've been in the spirit today - I've been playing Ringo records all day and night! They're somehow better than I remember. I oughta listen to 'em more often.

Last I heard, there still hasn't been an official announcement on a Let It Be deluxe box set. And, as you've all probably heard, a few weeks ago Peter Jackson's film, The Beatles: Get Back, was postponed an entire year! I was really hoping that they'd stream it on Disney+, but I guess they're deadset on a theatrical release. There's no word on what that means for the re-release of the original film, but as they'd already stated that it would be released after the new film, I assume it's also been postponed a year. Personally, I don't think the deluxe box set (assuming it exists) is inextricably linked to the release of the films. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it were released late this year, or early next year.
If anyone hears any news on any of this, please share. I was VERY bummed to hear of the postponement of the new film. I was looking forward to that more than any other music or movie related project, by a long shot. I've been waiting, like many Beatles fans, for many, MANY years for the Let It Be film to be released on DVD/Blu-ray, in any incarnation.

Honestly I had forgotten all about the Jackson thing, which now makes your quote of H. Edelson in the Feel Flows thread make more sense to me! That is unfortunate.

It was set to be released on September 4th. Now it's August 27, 2021. So close, so far!

There's something ironic about the constant false starts and delays around the digital home release of a film called Let It Be.
