Marilyn Wilson, not Melinda.

Marilyn Wilson, not Melinda. Ugh! Of course, with it being set around Smile, it's Marilyn. I swear my brain knew that. My fingers clearly did not. Thanks for the correction; I've edited my initial post. One thing about the play: legally I am assuming it can't use any BBs music without having licensed it, which I'd also guess is prohibitively expensive. But I wonder a) whether I'm correct about that; b) whether, as a small-time show, they do it anyway, hoping to be under the radar; and c) if I'm correct and they don't use it, how they get around it. Fake music, a la the TV movie or miniseries (I forget which it was) with its faux- Smile stuff?

Well, they got 4 out of 5 choices right, IMO. I'm not so sure about the ranking...
Very quickly, I'll go with this, in order:
1. Wouldn't It Be Nice 2. God Only Knows 3. Caroline, No 4. Sloop John B 5. You Still Believe In Me

Those are my exact picks too, Sheriff, except I'd rank WIBN at three instead.

I'm pretty sure my top three would be:
1. Wouldn't It Be Nice 2. God Only Knows 3. Sloop John B
But from there, I really have no idea. I won't quite say the last two spots could be any of the remaining songs in any order ... but I'm almost saying that. After the three listed above, the others are all of a similar quality to my mind, and rise and fall with my moods. If you forced me to rate two more right now, I'd probably say:
4. Here Today 5. You Still Believe In Me
But even as I type that No. 5, I'm thinking it could or should have been Don't Talk, or Caroline No, or I Know There's An Answer, or ... well, you get it.

This is likely my top five, at least right now, on March 8, 2024. Although, depending on the day, That's Not Me or I Just Wasn't Made for These Times might replace Here Today.

The only surprise there is "Don't Talk".

A column from the Irish Times by Tom Dunne about his reaction to the news about Brian's condition, and his experiences interviewing him through the years. It is dated March 20. Dunne has an interesting spin on the news. Almost skepticism or dismissal of dementia, as I read it. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/artsandculture/arid-41357425.html

In the coming years, I believe more information will come out about how things really were during "the Melinda years".

I'm told elsewhere that Mike is not a drinker. I would be surprised, though, if he didn't take at least a sip of this stuff.

I know it's a controversial subject, and I don't want to come across as Mr. Moral, but it bothers me that Mike Love is involved in the sale of alcoholic beverages. Over the years in several interviews, Mike has talked about his biggest regret(s) in his Beach Boys' career, and Mike did not hesitate in mentioning the effects and abuse of drugs and alcohol by some of the members of the group and family. You would think the last thing Mike Love would want to do is involve himself - in any way - in the sale, marketing, and promotion of alcohol.

Bob Dylan has his own line of Whiskeys (and he's had his share of struggles with the bottle); Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, ditto. But if Pepsi or Coke ever came to me about doing an ad for them, I'd jump on it. And then get cancelled by all my vegan friends on the left.
