The Wall was my gateway to Pink Floyd. By the summer of 1996, I was 15, on the verge of turning 16. I'd always been aware of the music of Pink Floyd, and even remembered hearing songs from The Division Bell on the radio a couple years prior, but they really never grabbed me.
That all changed when I caught a showing of The Wall movie on Vh1. I was hooked by the music. For Christmas that year, I got a copy of The Wall, and became obsessed with the album. I can't estimate how many times I listened to in in the coming year, before finally checking out the rest of the bands catalog.
It's probably not my favorite Floyd album anymore, but it's probably the most special to me.

Pink Floyd have released another 50 year copyright digital music dump, making 18 concerts from 1972 available digitally this month.
They did the same last year, and I believe they were only available to stream until the end of the calendar year.

As expected, Pink Floyd will be marking the 50th anniversary of their iconic album Dark Side of the Moon with a new reissue. ultimateclassicrock.com/pink-floyd-the-dark-side-of-the-moon-box-set/It doesn't appear to have as many extras as the Immersion Box Set that was released a few years ago. I was initially excited at the prospect of the 1974 - Live at Wembley BluRay, but it appears as it's audio only. Even though he's released as many live albums as studio albums, I wouldn't mind it if Roger Waters released one of his Dark Side of the Moon shows from 2006-07. I saw that tour twice, and it was a great show. He's already released two live versions of The Wall, so why not?

The other day, Pink Floyd changed their Facebook image to the new Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary logo, which features the rainbow from the album's iconic prism artwork in the 0 of the number 50. So, fans were blowing up Floyd's Facebook page, hurl accusations of the band going "woke" due to the rainbow (much like the noise you see whenever a corporation updates their logo for Pride Month). loudwire.com/people-mad-pink-floyd-new-dark-side-of-the-moon-anniversary-logo-rainbow/To borrow a title from a later Floyd song, I'm Lost for Words.

That article you linked nails it on two counts.
"But, of course, people always need to find something to be mad about, so they're yelling at Pink Floyd for having a rainbow in their logo because they think it has some sort of underlying social message behind it — the rainbow flag is a symbol of the LGBTQ community."
and
"Also, even if Pink Floyd did have an underlying message behind the rainbow in the new logo... have you ever listened to their lyrics? It's like when people were mad when members of Rage Against the Machine made political statements online."
People: get a life. Seriously. And personally I'd add, pick your battles. Perhaps even if that were the intention, a social change that has been very, very widely accepted for ~20-something years isn't the one to get worked up about. (Nobody's trying to turn you gay, Mr. 62-year-old straight guy from Missouri.)

I see similar stuff online every June when many corporations, sports teams, artists, etc add a rainbow to their avatars for Pride Month. These are just miserable people who are actively searching for stuff to be angry about.
I hope they never find out that there's actually a band called Rainbow who had songs like Catch the Rainbow and Rainbow Eyes, often played shows with giant rainbow onstage, and featured a rainbow on several of their album covers.

Yikes.
I guess the only way these guys will be burying the hatchet will be into one another's backs.

You know what Polly should have her husband do, and it would really stick it to Roger.
Go out on tour. Since Pink Floyd essentially hung it up in 1994, Waters had fattened his wallet by consistently flying the Floyd banner, and playing the classics to the masses for the better part of the 21st Century. Go out on tour, and put on the better show with the true guitar sound and voice of classic Floyd.
Better yet, you really wanna stick it to old Rog? Get Nick Mason on board and do a Pink Floyd tour.

Another swing from Roger, as he announced he's re-recorded the iconic Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon. Roger's delusional take on reality is on full display here, and Dark Side of the Moon was very much a band effort. In saying the Gilmour, Wright, and Mason are not "artists," that says to me that he thinks lyrics are the only important thing about songwriting. Maybe Roger is jealous a bit because he struggles to come up with melodies. ultimateclassicrock.com/roger-waters-re-recorded-dark-side-of-the-moon-pink-floyd/If he's hell bent on released his version of the iconic album, I'd rather he release a concert from his 2006-2007, where DSOTM was played in full in the second half of the show.

After co-grandchild-minding for my daughter today, she played us The Dark Side of the Moon, accompanied by a glass of rosé. (The other option was The Wall and I was having none of that.)
I was struck with just how good it is. This may seem a redundant statement but for years I've campaigned in favour of Wish You Were Here as the one good album of those years. A track like "Time" sounded wonderful this afternoon -- as it does now:

Time might be my absolute favorite marriage of lyrics and music in the Floyd canon.
I found the lyrics pretty poignant when I first really noticed them at 17, and even moreso at 42.

Happy 50th birthday to Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side of the Moon.
I saw the NYT has a story, NPR just plugged an upcoming story, and even sports-and-culture platform The Ringer has a story. Nice to see some positive press from mainstream media about this classic. Hopefully there isn't too much focus on their internal squabbles.
The album was a #1 in the US (#2 in the UK) and sold more than 45 million copies worldwide as of 2013. That's 45x platinum! It is probably the best selling album of the '70s and third-best of all time.
