As the years have gone by, I lean now more on team Gilmour, because I think his guitar playing is the most important aspect of Floyd, as well as being the best singer in the band. Those are exactly the two reasons why I think I’m leaning that way.

Those are exactly the two reasons why I think I’m leaning that way. My appreciation for the post Waters material has grown a lot as I've gotten older too. I started with Dark Side of the Moon and I’m branching out from there. Then it was Wish You Were Here, Obscured by Clouds, and Side 1 of Meddle (ran out of time this morning for Side 2). Next will probably be Animals. I look forward, though, to comparing the later albums. The ones that are more Waters-centric to the ones without him.

The more Waters centric albums - Animals, The Wall, and The Final Cut - are definitely darker, and more cynical. The other big change is that Roger handles the majority of the lead vocals on those albums.

Pink Floyd just released some products on their online shop for the Hey Hey Rise Up single. Shirts, hoodies, buttons, magnets.
But, not a CD single or a 45.

Pity Waters didn't have the guts to rejoin them for this occasion. I don't think I'll ever take to that man...

To be fair to Roger, Gilmour may also not have even approached him. Sadly, the ice that seemed to be beginning to thaw between Gilmour and Waters has reformed in recent years.

Of course, this situation is not entirely unfamiliar to us Beach Boys fans.

Speaking of Waters, here's a blurb about his getting ready for his upcoming tour. ultimateclassicrock.com/roger-waters-wall-medley-late-show/Waters said the show "is a stunning indictment of the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive, and a call to action to love, protect and share our precious and precarious planet home.” Boy, doesn't that sound fun? Sure, I'll plunk down $300 for an upper level seat for that. This story also stuck out. Waters once recalled the moment he lost his temper when he discovered that the children’s choir assembled for a U.S. performance of his The Wall show weren’t from an economically suppressed background like his own. “I looked at these kids, and I thought, ‘These are not my kids,’” he said.
“So I found out that they were the children of the executives from the arena who thought it would be fun for their kids to be part of the show. ... So I went ape shit and got rid of them all. ‘Find me some proper kids!’ So these kids turned up, and I went, ‘These are more like it. These are my kids, this is my constituency.’”Sorry, Rog, this makes you sound less like a crusader for the downtrodden, and more like an asshole. Was it the fault of these kids that the executives of the venue put this moment together? Nope. I'd willing to bet some of them were probably excited to sing onstage with a legend, only for said legend to throw a hissy fit and rob them of that.

I get the idea, and I like the idea: make it special for some kids whose opportunities are limited. But did he make that clear up front? Once the kids are there, however it is they got there, it's pretty shitty to send them home just so you can feel charitable. (I guess it's a gray area if he HAD made those intentions clear, and somebody in the production team contradicted him by instead getting high-rollers' kids.)

I think even had he made his intentions clear, once the kids are there, you carry on, and deal with it later on. It's almost laughable that Roger would willfully share this story in such a self congratulatory way. It's also hard for me to take an artist's concern for the less fortunate too seriously when only people of a certain means can even afford a ticket to the show.

That's the other thing that only occurred to me after I posted: why is he telling this story? What's next, the time he kicked his dog?
Honestly even had it gone off perfectly from the start, it's hard to take seriously someone's intentions when s/he advertises them. "HEY EVERYONE, I'VE DONE A NICE THING FOR POOR KIDS! HOORAY FOR ME! I'M A HERO!"

"Well, I never kicked the dog. David Gilmour probably told you that. What I did was, I broke into the house of rich family, and stole the beloved puppy of their six year old son. Then, I took the puppy to the project complex, and gave it to a less fortunate family." I've read a lot of quotes from Roger over the years, and have seen a lot of interview footage. He makes Mike Love seem self aware.
