It's nice to see Animals getting this treatment. I know there are a few tribute albums to Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall out there.

Some interesting guest artists on there ^ including John Lodge and Patrick Moraz from The Moody Blues, Joe Bouchard from Blue Oyster Cult, and Arthur Brown - yes, THAT Arthur Brown from The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown ("Fire", 1969).
And, in other news, Roger Waters is getting married for the 5th time:

Sheriff, if you're into early Floyd, I see Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets band is coming to Philly. I went to one of their shows in 2019, and would highly recommend it. ultimateclassicrock.com/nick-mason-saucerful-of-secrets-2022-tour/

The new Pink Floyd song is currently #2 on the iTunes top songs list. (It's #1 within the rock subcategory.)

I can't seem to find the link, but Classic Rock Magazine posted an op/ed piece in the early hours about the fan reaction to the new Floyd song.
Somewhat predictably, given the internet, a lot of the internet chatter about this song was "it's not Pink Floyd," "No Roger! No Floyd!" or "It's Gilmore and friends." (For the love of Christ, at least spell the man's name correctly).
The piece said that sort of nonsense is pretty much missing the point of the release. Gilmour knows that a Floyd charity single will fare far better than a Gilmour one. And the rampant negativity towards the lineup is uncalled for.
I couldn't agree more. After all, it's not like this is the lead single to a new Floyd album, or a primer for a tour.
Sometimes, I feel like fans just need to slow their rolls a bit that with shit.

I listened to it yesterday when you posted it. While it isn't exactly what I'd go out of my way for, it's hard to feel too negatively about it considering its origins. And besides, even if Ukrainian folk melodies aren't your thing, there's some pretty damn cool guitar playing in it.
Certainly I think it's not in the best taste to take this as the opportunity to bitch about lineups and such: it's like going to a funeral and screaming how you never cared for the deceased's wife.

I agree. Gilmour's playing is great, as usual, and really carries the song. It's not a song that I'm going to listen to often, but for what it is, I think they did a pretty good job. I'll probably download it. I'll be interested to see if it gets some sort of physical release. I was thinking Gilmour could possibly cobble together an odds and ends compilation to raise money. That could also be a landing spot for his 2020 pandemic single.

kds , you've probably discussed this, but as I'm currently listening to Pink Floyd for the first time since high school, I'm wondering if there is a similar dynamic between Gilmour and Waters that there is with Lennon/McCartney amongst fans. As in, is there a competition? Do fans pick sides (musically or otherwise)? I assume they do. And musically-speaking, do you prefer one's contributions over the other? I have a suspicion that I'm a little more of a Gilmour-guy, but it's too early to tell.

I have a suspicion that I'm a little more of a Gilmour-guy, but it's too early to tell. Oh yes, there are some fans who are strictly "If it's not Waters, it's not Floyd." I used to frequent a couple Floyd message boards when I first got into the band in the late 90s, and that debate was there. Although, I really think the internet was a bit more friendly back then. Arguments rarely, if ever, got heated. When I first got into the band, I was a little more team Waters, but that was partly due to the fact that he actually toured when I was really just getting into the group. Although, even though I was more on Waters's side, I still appreciated A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell. As the years have gone by, I lean now more on team Gilmour, because I think his guitar playing is the most important aspect of Floyd, as well as being the best singer in the band. It helps that he's also released two very good solo albums in the 21st century.

Thanks, kds. I've reposted the track and the news article across the road. No problem. I've heard David Gilmour say he's love to do the track live with Andriy Khlyvnyuk, hopefully in a better time.
