I’m getting pretty excited for Monday’s Total Solar Eclipse. I traveled to St. Joseph, Missouri, for the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse and it was mind blowing. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. So I knew I had to go see the next one. We leave tomorrow morning for St. Louis, then will travel on Monday to either Poplar Bluff, Carbondale or Cape Girardeau, depending on the forecast. Do any of you have viewing plans?

I experienced the 2017 eclipse up in the Georgia mountains, and it was a mind-blower, in a beautiful setting. I was so hoping to get somewhere to see it this year, but plans fell through. We'll have an 80% plus here, not too shabby, so I'll check that out outdoors. Otherwise I'll watch TV coverage, NASA coverage, and I've got a group of webcams bookmarked in the path of totality for some vicarious locale observations.

I've just gone outside to look here in Baltimore. It's supposed to peak at 93% coverage here. Pretty cool.

We're only supposed to be at 75% coverage here, and the peak was a few minutes ago. I went outside ... and could not find where the sun was, much less the moon in front of it. We have 100% thick cloud cover, so it looked like a normal cloudy, drizzly day.

Fortunately, the skies are clear here with about 88% coverage. I was the only one to bring in glasses, good thing i did!

The sky is blue, there's white clouds, and it looks like it's about...8:30 PM.

I went back outside during the peak, and the natural light outside resembled that just before or after a thunderstorm.

I drove about 15 minutes from home to see 100% coverage. Very cool to see.

I really didn’t know what I was missing with the cloudy weather in 2017. You can’t describe the moment when totality occurs, and the sun disappears in your glasses and you take them off and it’s literally the most amazing thing I have ever seen. My mind is still blown. I have yet to see a photograph that conveys the magnificence of the sight. It didn’t even look real. The moon was so “alive”. It took us over four hours to drive back to Saint Louis, so we didn’t get home until almost 11 PM. It was totally worth it!

Wish I had a filter on my phone so you could see the moon, but the moment when the sun disappears and you take off your glasses is breathtaking. You have to be there…
