I've come around on 15 Big Ones over the years ... or really, halfway around. I went from initially thinking it was an embarrassing, atrocious piece of trash to rating it as OK, maybe somewhere around 2/3 of the way down my list of favorites. I like it more than the earliest albums or SiP/SC. I think some of the arrangements are really cool. But I'm not enthused about a lot of the material--particularly the covers--and it's just impossible to ignore the poor singing on a lot of it.
In hindsight, maybe what I like least about it isn't the music itself, but where it falls in the band's history. After a few-year hiatus of new material, we make the leap from the increasingly interesting group that had produced Holland to ... this!? I'm sure the nostalgia did them some favors with aging fans, but I really wish they'd tried harder to remain a vibrant, living band. (I know they did exactly that later. Sometimes. This is the real beginning of the "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" era, in my opinion.)
