At long last, the Lemon Twigs's new album, A Dream Is All We Know, is out today. There were four pre-album singles, and I loved them all, so I was a little surprised to see AllMusic being rough on them with a 3-star (out of five) review today. I haven't listened yet, but am excited to do so. And here is a nice little feature from the UK's Guardian, published yesterday. There is a nice little quote on the issue of being too much pastiche ... but it's a little ironic in that the writer also uses all the cliches, like how the album "magically transports the listener to the idyll of Abbey Road studios in 1966" and compares their personalities to Mike Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees.

OK, I know I'm going on and on about this group the past few years, but tell me "In the Eyes of the Girl" isn't pre-Pet Sounds Brian Wilson. Even the vocal! Mostly standard rock and roll ballad chords and arrangement, but with some great singing, both lead and background. I love it.
