We've moved onto another album?
Here's my votes for Something New.
Best - And I Love Her - A bit of repetition here.
Worst - Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand - It's neat as a curio, but I really don't have much use for this.

And I'm not gonna ask you to rate The Beatles' Story, a cashgrab if ever there was one. Attachments:

Best - "When I Get Home" - I'm approaching this as if I bought both albums in real-time. In that case, I'd probably only bother listening to Side 1 of Something New, where 5 of the 6 "new" songs are. Side 2 were all previously released, except "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand". It's wild that they chose "I'll Cry Instead" as the opener, because 1) it's just not a natural opener and 2) it's the lone previously released track on Side 1! For me, the other contender for best/favorite track was "Anytime at All". I actually think that's a better song, and I LOVE it, but there's just something incredibly gripping about their performance of "When I Get Home". It's borderline manic! Lennon, in particular, turned in a heck of a performance, but they were all committed to rockin' the hell out of that song.
Worst - "Komm, Gib Meire Deine Hand" - Meant solely for the German market...

Not the typical chord changes, and again, the performance is all out hard driving rock and roll. It's one I've especially loved singing, except for the repeat of "anytime at all" - out of my range - and apparently John's too! Took me years to figure out that was Paul on the echoing line. Yeah, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" in German is an interesting novelty, but definitely the least essential track.

Okay, things are slow here, so I'll move us up to the next album - Beatles '65.
No Reply I'm a Loser (I'm tempted to write "I'm a Looser") Baby's In Black Rock and Roll Music I'll Follow the Sun Mis-tah-ah-ah-ah Moonlight
Honey Don't I'll Be Back I Feel Fine She's a Woman Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby
Worst: Mista-ah-ah-ah Moonlight. Despite that dramatic intro from John, it's a weak song. Here I am on my nose, begging of you please.
Best: Several strong candidates - I'll Be Back, No Reply, I'm a Loser, but there's a reason they chose I Feel Fine as the single. One of the best Fab tracks ever. Greatest guitar lick ever? Unusual intro, and I don't know what that beat is Ringo's playing, but it's perfect for the song. Top it all off with those great vocals.

Most memorable: “RARM”, a super cover version that can easily vie with Chuck’s original.
Least: What LS said. 😂

Best - No Reply - I've always felt like this song was a bit of a dark horse in the catalog, or at least as close to a dark horse as The Beatles could have.
Worst - Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby - It's a good cover, but probably my least favorite Perkins Beatles cover.

Best - I Feel Fine. lonelysummer more or less summed it up. The guitar part, the drumming, but also it's just a great song--an obvious classic. However, I'll Follow the Sun, No Reply, I'm a Loser are right there, and several others aren't far behind.
Worst - She's a Woman.

BEST SONG: It's between "I Feel Fine" and "She's A Woman". I like "I Feel Fine" because it's another one of those early period Beatles' songs that kind of define 1964/Beatlemania for me. It's a sound that I love! I do like how Paul did something a little different with "She's A Woman", and I especially like the intro. I think that song would've rocked live later in The Beatles' and Paul's solo career. I guess I'll go with "I Feel Fine".
WORST SONG: Easy one..."Mr. Moonlight".

Whenever I hear the UK mix of She's a Woman, I think it sounds too sparse, too dry. This is a rare occasion where the added reverb on the Capitol version enhances the song. Makes it sound heavier!

I don't really have any great criticisms about "She's a Woman," btw. It just doesn't strike me the way so many Beatles songs do. I listen with my nose scrunched up a little, just thinking "what is it?" or rather, "what isn't it?" Funny that you put it up there for best, though, Sheriff.
But I can definitely imagine hearing a version of the song that I liked just fine. For whatever reason, I just don't care for this record.

While I do like "She's A Woman" a lot, some of my ranking had to do with the competition. I'm pretty sure I rated the album lower than most fans on our ranking thread awhile back. I did want to mention that I like "Honey Don't" a lot, too. It's one of my favorite Ringo covers.

Beatles '65. No Reply I'm a Loser (I'm tempted to write "I'm a Looser") Baby's In Black Rock and Roll Music I'll Follow the Sun Mis-tah-ah-ah-ah Moonlight Honey Don't I'll Be Back I Feel Fine She's a Woman Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby This appears to be the first Capitol album tracklist that is at least semi-defensible. (Although, the album title is just plain stupid for a collection of songs recorded and released in 1964.) Of course, it helps that Side 1 is nearly identical to Side 1 of Beatles for Sale (except the 7th track, "Kansas City", is omitted). Then they add the "I Feel Fine" b/w "She's A Woman" single, along with the fantastic "I'll Be Back". That said, they chose to omit "Eight Days A Week", "What You're Doing", "Every Little Thing", "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party", the aforementioned "Kansas City", and "Words of Love". Ultimately, too much music is lost from Beatles for Sale to Beatles '65 to consider it a win, but a track or two (in isolation) were probably upgrades. Also, the sequencing of Side 2 leaves much to be desired. For instance, how do you not kick off Side 2 with "I Feel Fine"!? Just for fun, I decided to toy around with the sequencing, and I think the following would have been a noticeable improvement: No Reply I'm a Loser Baby's In Black Rock and Roll Music I'll Follow the Sun I'll Be Back I Feel Fine She's A Woman Honey Don't Mr. Moonlight Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby

Best - "I Feel Fine" - A very close call, though. I really wanted to go with "No Reply".
Worst - "Honey Don't" - This was tough. I like the track. The worst thing I can say about it is that it's a little unremarkable and tad long.
Edit: To expand on my "unremarkable" comment - whatever the faults are of "Mr. Moonlight" or "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby", one way or another I just find aspects of those tracks, from the arrangements to performances, more exciting, interesting, memorable, etc.

The Beatles themselves enjoyed poking fun at Capitol onstage. "This next number is from an album called Beatles 6 or 98...I don't know, I haven't got it! Anyway the song is called Dizzy Miss Lizzie". "This next song is on an lp over here, I think..." People make a big deal out of Capitol changing the albums over here, but they weren't the only ones. Look at any British bands in the mid 60's - the Animals, Herman's Hermits, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks - that's how things were done back then. Over here, the record labels always wanted the albums to feature a group's latest hits. Oddly, then, Colonel Parker insisted that Elvis Presley's albums NOT feature his singles - no need for the kids to buy the same songs twice. These days, Elvis fans complain that Elvis Presley (1956), Elvis (1956), Elvis is Back (1960), Something for Everybody (1961) and Pot Luck (1962) don't include the singles that were out at the time of those albums. You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself.
