Back to the Big E... My brother had a 45 of this years ago. Maybe he still does. Perhaps I should ask him! I've always marvelled at the US spelling (with a z): "Paralyzed" is one I didn't realize was spelled differently elsewhere! How do you feel about the US spelling of "marveled"!?

Oh shit! It's another canceled/cancelled. Is it generally true that in this situation two 'l's is British and one 'l' is US? Because, if so, for whatever reason, the British variant appears to have been taught in my region, at least in regard to certain words. (Man, "cancel", is going to haunt me the rest of my life. I notice it almost every day now...spelled wrong! )

By the way, I'm glad to see the interest in this thread despite my lack of follow-up thus far.

Speaking of Z versus S, who says "Elvis Prezley", versus "Elvis Pressley"?

Speaking of Z versus S, who says "Elvis Prezley", versus "Elvis Pressley"? Better late than never -- I have always said "Prezley", as there's only one S. Same thing with David Crosby ("Croz")...

I'm thinking about trying to put together a playlist/album consisting solely of Elvis' 1970s rockers. If anyone has any recommendations or can list most of them off the top of your head, that would be great! I'm talking about tracks like "Burnin' Love", "Promised Land", "T-R-O-U-B-L-E", etc. I don't think there are really that many. A lot of his 1970s stuff was on the slow side.

How about a live version of "Suspicious Minds"? You'll find some where it's sped up and with the drumming (Ronnie Tutt?), it really cooks. For example:
It was a live version--I'm not sure what one, as it was on some cheap comp cassette in the '80s--that was the first version of this song I'd ever heard. I was actually really disappointed the first time I heard the slower studio version. I loved that energy! (Also in that version, during the slow breakdown, he said "and I'd never, ever lie to you / no, not much." And that was just about the funniest thing I'd ever heard.)

Here's two. "Raised On Rock" is a little different. Recorded in the Stax Studios, it had mixed reviews but I think it rocks. "Way Down" was the last Elvis Presley single released before he passed away. J.D. Sumner sings the low "way on down" part.

I'm currently listening to his 1976 album, From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee, here's a nice, bouncy tune that I had no recollection of, "For the Heart":

Those are some pretty good, easy going rockers.
