And now the drama queen wide receiver, upset that the team (legally and frankly wisely) took the actions they could with respect to his contract by fining him and voiding his guarantees so that he's week to week, goes to (what else?) social media to whine semi-coherently as if to imply the world/system is against him and that he's more or less held captive to a team he, not they, said he'd never play for again.

I don't think I've ever seen a situation like this before. Usually at some point they kiss and make up, but I don't think Brown is capable of that. The Raiders have to be thinking that, too. Even though I didn't agree with it (see my above post about pro sports changing), I understood why Gruden didn't suspend him and put him in the lineup for Monday's game. But doesn't everybody have their breaking point? Gruden has a team to run, a game to plan for, his sanity to keep. Enough is enough. Cut bait and move on. I would think most, not all but most Raiders' fans would back that decision.

I would think most, not all but most Raiders' fans would back that decision. While Raiders fans aren't necessarily known to be the most reasonable bunch, I'd have to think they wouldn't look kindly on someone saying, basically, "eff you, I'm not going to play for you anymore." Seems like a good time to accept the breakup, I'd say.
I really hate petulant brats. I don't begrudge pro athletes in the major sports their money: our economy makes it happen. It seems odd in a vacuum, because obviously throwing and catching and hitting and shooting balls is silly, but hey, that's life. We love to watch the greatest competitors in sports, we pay for it, so they deserve their money. No problem there. But when they begin acting like poorly behaved toddlers or spoiled brats, that's where I lose patience. Quickly.
If YOU don't hold up YOUR part of a contract, then YOU caused whatever (legal) consequences come YOUR way. And guess what, when you not only don't live up to your contractual obligations, but talk trash publicly about your employer--the organization giving you that money--they aren't especially happy to give you that money anymore.
Think about it, Antonio Brown. Hire me to mow your lawn. I do a great job. So you hire me to mow your lawn every week for the next year. But I don't show up to mow your lawn for a month or two. Then when I do, you tell me you're taking it out of my pay. "That's not fair!" I scream, adding a few curse words and maybe the odd racial slur or two. "I've proved I'm the best lawn mower around. YOU OWE ME!" I storm away again and post my victim narrative online for all to see, badmouthing you again.
Think about it. Who looks bad here? Who's the bad guy?

Antonio Brown's history. Raiders get to keep their money. Per Adam Schefter. Normally in a situation like this, I'd say the Raiders were going to sign the guy. But in this case, that seems out! So ... what team is next-most likely to willingly employ a troublemaker?

Saw that. Guess I should’ve guessed.
I hope he plays every down of every game and doesn’t catch a ball!

Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown as the two wideouts. The Patriots are playing with fire. Should be interesting to follow, and I'm sure we'll get that opportunity as New England will probably be on TV every week.

Looking forward to a (Vikings) game that counts today! Hosting the Falcons, my hope is that Dalvin Cook can stay healthy and integral to the game plan. So talented, so explosive, and so often not on the field... Maybe this is the year, with the Kubiak influence on the offense.
Though a 350+ yard game from Cousins and a handful of nice TD passes, plus a dominant defensive showing, would be nice, too.
I don't ask for much!

Well, halfway through the first quarter, Cook has two carries for 40 yards and a TD, plus two catches for 9 yards. I'd say my hopes are coming true so far.

KDS, you must be a happy camper! I am really happy about Lamar Jackson's game, and I have no particular interest in it other than liking having watched him in college every now and again. What a game.

kds and Kapitan, the three of us should be pretty happy right now - although I was throwing things for about a half an hour!

I was a little cranky throughout: the Vikings weren't dominating anywhere near as much as the score indicated. We were up 28-0 at one point, but the Falcons were out-gaining us (as they did for the game, 345-269). Turnovers mattered, 3-0 in the Vikings' favor, but you can't count on that every time out. And as happy as I was to see Cousins' efficient performance going 8-10 with 1 TD and 0 INT, fewer than 100 yards passing is ... not ideal.
Mostly, what struck me as heavily as ever was that we way, way overpaid for a game manager at QB. Especially if the Kubiak-and-Zimmer mindset is to emphasize the run the way they did (38:10 ratio!). Why was Case Keenum, who only led us to the NFC championship game, not qualified for that philosophy?

Yeah, I can't complain at all about a game that the Ravens dominated from the first play.

Now Odell Beckham is being a major distraction for a team that doesn't need one right now. The commissioner, owners, coaches, and GMs better get control of their game, or specifically rogue players. Am I being too melodramatic to say that things are getting out of hand with the players kneeling for the anthem, domestic abuse, violence, abusing PEDs, social media, sitting out over contracts, etc.
