The Ravens have a very winnable home game this Sunday (sorry, Kap) before going on the road to Miami and Chicago. The schedule gets much tougher after that, so it would be great to win all three of these games. I'm not sure who I'll root for in that one. Probably Baltimore--or at least Lamar Jackson and Rashod Bateman.

In the loss to Cincinnati, the offense came out flat, leaving our mediocre defense on the field far too long. And, the Vikings still have some playmakers who can trouble a defense like ours.

One question is: who will coach the Vikings? There is a lot of talk this morning about coaching staff shakeups being somewhere in the possible-to-likely range. Whether that means coordinators or head coach, who knows? But frankly both coordinators should go, and considering one co-DC is the head coach's kid and the head coach is very involved on that side, if you're looking at them, you might as well go to the top.
On offense, it's another example of legacy/nepotism. We've had Gary Kubiak as heavily involved, have several of his old friends on that staff, and his kid is the OC.
I'm not sure I have an opinion. While I have not been a big fan of Zimmer, neither is he the worst coach we've ever had. And I am not a big fan of just tearing it down and starting over all the time. As a Wolves fan, I know too well the damage that can do to a franchise (and a fan base). My opinion on whether it would be a good move will be made in about five years, depending on how it ends up going.

This is Zimmer's eighth season there. It's hard to last almost a decade as an HC without a lot of postseason success.

It turns out star defensive end Danielle Hunter is out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle. He missed all of last year with a neck injury. Hunter had a team-high 6 sacks and 23 tackles, most among defensive linemen.
Meanwhile Zimmer's nepotism has been called out. It seems he's going to stay--barring a real collapse, I suppose--but I suspect the season craters now. And I think this will be his final go-round with Minnesota.

Harrison Smith will miss today's game as he's been placed on the COVID/IR list. He is famously one of the Vikings not to have gotten vaccinated. Even before the season it seemed inevitable we'd eventually lose him, Adam Thielen, Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Dalvin Tomlinson, or one of several others.
Thank goodness I've given up on the team already.
Hoping Rashod Bateman has a breakout game today.

Bateman played well, but not quite that break out game. The Ravens started slow, and needed another late comecack to tie, then pull ahead, only for our mediocre defense to allow a late TD to force OT, where we eventually won 34-31. We're 6-2, but the defense and lack of production from our Island of Misfit Toys backfield has me wondering if the Ravens can realistically make a run in January.

Vikings guard Dakota Dozier has been hospitalized for COVID. Because of his positive test, 29 people within the organization are considered close contacts and have to either be quarantined or monitored, depending on their statuses. We have five players on the COVID list now: Dozier, star safety Harrison Smith (famously unvaxxed), center Garrison Bradbury, and two backups, Ryan Connelly and Timon Parris. (Bradbury and Dozier were both publicly vaxxed.)
It was something you could see coming a mile away with our worst-in-the-league vaccination rate. And while I can't pretend to know, it is entirely possible that Smith infected some of these other guys. It also may not be over.

The Ravens play tonight. I really don't much care for Thursday Night Games, especially as the road team.

And, last night is why I don't like Thursday Night games.
I also need to stay out of Facebook comment sections in regards to the Ravens. I'm developing a bit of a disdain for our spoiled fanbase.

Lamar Jackson was a late scratch due to a non COVID illness, but the Ravens eeked out a W in Chicago 16-13. Tyler Huntley played fairly well, and the defense, despite some breakdowns against old rival Andy Dalton, held on.
Now, we're 7-3, in front of the North, with division games in five of our last seven. Buckle up!

KC Chiefs Win! They looked great in this game. So sad that so many fair weather fans put up a petition to have Patrick Mahomes benched. What the heck. They evidently weren’t around during the 80’s and early 90’s. The defense showed up big time. That was the biggest surprise. I am just so happy! Great effort all the way around. Dallas was really never in the game.

Last night, Lamar Jackson became the first QB since 2013 to throw 4 interceptions in a game, and still win. The Ravens, somewhat shockingly, moved in the top spot in the AFC with last night's ugly 16-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Vikings were without Everson Griffen (another mental health crisis) and Dalvin Tomlinson is yet another of our unvaxxed guys to miss time with COVID. With Danielle Hunter out the year and Michael Pierce also out, our defensive line was just decimated even going in.
Then losing Dalvin Cook obviously didn't help, not that he was doing much. At 5-6 and with the injuries we've got, it seems the year is over. Though I thought that a few weeks ago before they got a few more wins. But it's hard to be excited about this team, I will tell you that much.
