After listening to She and Him's Christmas albums, I can't say that I'd be motivated to drive to VA (especially after it took nearly two hours to leave a M&B show at the same venue in 2015) to see this tour.
To be fair, I liked her contribution to NPP, but I think 90 minutes of Zooey's singing style would wear quite thin.

I know a lot of folks aren’t aware of this, but Facebook adds their own tracking code to links. You can — and should — remove everything from that question mark on, so people who click on the link here don’t get tracked by FB. (I used to create promo emails as part of my job, so I’m familiar with how tracking code works.) Anyway, here’s the link without the tracking code: pitchfork.com/news/she-and-him-announce-brian-wilson-tribute-tour/

fwiw I think it's cool they named it the Melt Away Tour, rather than the Good Vibrations tour or something more obvious like that. Not sure how many people will get it, but even so...

I am mildly curious to see what the setlist would look like.
I'd imagine On the Island might be included.

As this thread indicates, She & Him announced a Brian Wilson themed tour a while back. It turns out that tour is in support of a new Brian Wilson covers album they are releasing in July. This Stereogum article says Wilson returns the favor of their having guested on NPP by appearing on their "Do It Again."
Below is the tracklist and their version of "Darlin."
TRACKLIST: 01 “Darlin’” 02 “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” 03 “Til I Die” 04 “Deirdre” 05 “Melt Away” 06 “Good To My Baby” 07 “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)” 08 “Don’t Worry Baby” 09 “This Whole World” 10 “Kiss Me, Baby” 11 “Do It Again” (Feat. Brian Wilson) 12 “Heads You Win, Tails I Lose” 13 “Please Let Me Wonder” 14 “Meant For You”

The biggest shocker on that list is the relatively obscure track from Surfin Safari - Heads You Win, Tails I Lose.
Despite my indifference towards She and Him, I'll probably give this a listen when it's released.

Speaking to the obscurity of that song, here is something for those who didn't check the link that the band said about the material:
“In the spring of 2020, we started a list of our favorite Brian songs—a very long list,” the duo said in a statement. “We chose songs without any regard to their chart performance. The obscure ones hit us just as hard as the more popular songs—and all are ripe for re-imagining, re-interpreting, and re-inventing. Brian writes songs of beauty and loneliness and vulnerability better than anyone—and by sequencing them next to popular songs of confidence and love and fun, it creates a more complete picture of life on earth.”
Honestly that's pretty well said. Kudos to their P.R. team

Why the heck did they put a Bruce Johnston song on their album? Where are the Dennis and Carl and Mike and Al songs?

Why the heck did they put a Bruce Johnston song on their album? Where are the Dennis and Carl and Mike and Al songs? It's credited as a Bruce-Brian co-write, so in that it's not different than plenty of the other songs they included. Several are "Mike songs" in the same respect.
But it did jump out at me, too, especially having heard from Bruce's interviews that it's probably about 90-10 split or so. Of course, they may not even know that back story. They might have just looked at songs they liked and knew were credited to Wilson (or co-credited, in this and several cases).

Below is the tracklist:
TRACKLIST:
12 “Heads You Win, Tails I Lose”
What are the odds that 60 years ago when Brian Wilson and Gary Usher were writing "Heads You Win, Tails I Lose", one of them said, "You know, 60 years from now, somebody is going to cover this song!"

Coincidental (because it's a couple months old now), but I happened upon this Zooey Deschanel appearance on Justin Long's podcast. (Gotta be honest, I mostly recognize Long from those old Mac v PC commercials from the mid 00s, but he's an actor who has been in stuff, I guess.)
I had it on in the background in case she talked about the Beach Boys or Brian Wilson at all, and sure enough, a little after the 42-minute mark, they spend about five minutes talking about Brian specifically, including how she got to meet him, what they've done together, etc. I don't think Zooey is the greatest musician in the world (he said politely), but it's clear she truly does love Brian's music, which is cool.

Justin Long seemed like he was on the verge of becoming an A lister in the mid 00s. After a run of comedies like Dodgeball and Waiting, he was tapped to star aside Bruce Willis in the fourth installment of the Die Hard franchise in 2007.
