I recently watched a Beatles YouTube video where they played 15 short song snippets and you had to guess each song. They used five 2.0 second, five 1.0 second, and five 0.5 second clips, but I ended up with three 2.0 second, seven 1.5 second, three 1.0 second, and two 0.5 second clips. So, considerably easier, I think! The soundcloud track I'm posting here is only about 5 minutes long. You'll hear each snippet twice (5 seconds apart) and then you'll hear an extended version to reveal the answer. If you'd like to pause it after the first and/or second play to ponder the answer for a few moments, feel free to do so, but then you gotta guess! I think it'll be too easy if you take your time and listen to it over and over. That said, it's extremely hard for me to gauge how easy or difficult it will be for you guys. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys ace it. I didn't try to be tricky. I selected memorable/distinctive moments. I picked songs from the studio albums. I balanced out the hits and non-hits, and spanned the decades. I'm not sure the best way to run the game, though. I'd like it if we discussed it, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't listened yet. So, I'm thinking perhaps each participant should only post their score (e.g. "10/15" if you got 10 right) until everyone who's interested has had a chance to play. (Or if you want to comment on things without revealing the answers, that's cool, too.) Get out your headphones and have at it! Can You Guess The Song?

Fun game! I really struggled, only getting 8/15. I started out 3/10, so I at least had a strong finish lol.

I'd love to know which ones you got or struggled with when it's safe. It's funny, when I played the Beatles edition, I did really well, but the ones I got wrong were probably the easiest! I was really kicking myself, because I'd narrow it down very quickly to one of two songs or to a certain section of a particular album, but then before I could pinpoint it exactly I felt compelled to guess. Anyway, what I'm saying is, I'm glad it wasn't too easy (or too hard). Like I said, knowing the answers going in, makes it impossible for me to gauge the difficulty of the game. We all know the songs, so it's just about the timing.

I think what makes the Beach Boys more difficult, though, is that there catalog is so much larger. The change in production can help place certain snippets, but there's still a lot more songs in total that your brain has to shift through.

10/15. Got to admit I kicked myself on several of the ones I didn't get.

Instead it was more just like "oh, that's SO OBVIOUS [now that I know the answer...]!!"
It was fun. Thanks for putting it together.

9 out of 15. I was disappointed in myself. I was familiar with every segment, they were all recognizable, but I just couldn't flesh 'em all out. It was fun, though. Thanks, B.E. for posting it!

Thanks for playing, SJS.
Hey, the scores have been pretty consistent thus far (8,9,10).

I've been thinking about some changes to the format to improve this little game. More on that later...
(In the meantime, ZZ, you had the right album for #15 but the wrong track.)

Hey, slightly different format this time. Just 3 clips (one 2 second, one 1 second, one .5 second), played 3 times each. After listening post your answers in code by abbreviating the album and song titles. So, if you think the answers are "Let Us Go On This Way", "Farmer's Daughter", and "Where I Belong" post something like "1. lylugotw 2. susafd 3. tbbwib". Not much of a code but it's quick and I think it might be enough not to spoil the game. I'll post the answer clips on Wednesday evening. If there's enough interest, I was thinking of maintaining a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule for a few weeks. Have at it! (If these are too easy, trust me, I can make it a LOT harder! ) soundcloud.com/b-e-18181486/beach-boys-game-2

That's what I did earlier, yet I been subjected to your quote saying "...without revealing answers...". 🤔. Thanks to you finally acknowledging me as doing the right thing, B.E. I knew it.💪😎 As for game, I'll wait when you create the multi-song game. 3 is too little. It's cool when it's many songs.🎵

H'mm -- fascinating! I have 2 and 3. Now I'm working on 1. Edit: Still working on 1. It sound like the end of a song (no fadeout). I've been through a list at Reddit of non-fading BB songs to no avail. It's also in B major, a most unusual key in pop. And it's naggingly familiar. Well, it's embedded in my brain now so I can think about it all night if necessary.
