I bought tickets to see Brian in June when he comes to Dayton. I'm hoping he sounds better than he did last year, but the rest of the band will still be great and who knows if he'll come anywhere near here again.

I had a bit of a chance to see him last year, but i would have had to drive 8 hours round-trip to make it to the concert! I can't afford that much gas.

Yeah that's a bit of a drive! I'm a little worried about the show I'm going to. There's probably 75% of the seats still available.

I saw Brian and the Band during the Christmas tour. The Band was fantastic as typical and I always jump at the chance to see Al and Blondie. This year Brian is playing a casino which historically aren’t the best shows in my experience. Plus, I’m beginning to feel sad seeing Brian sing poorly, be wheeled in stage in a wheelchair, and generally not enjoying himself. I’ve been seeing Brian every year for 20 years (my 1980s self would find that hard to believe!) Even though the experience isn’t what it was back then, I’m just worried that I may never have the chance again, and each performance could be the last and should go Am I alone in this?

I'm the same way. Although I was 3/4 years old in 1999, so the only time I've seen him is in 2015. Luckily he was on that night and it was a great show.

I’ve been seeing Brian every year for 20 years (my 1980s self would find that hard to believe!) Even though the experience isn’t what it was back then, I’m just worried that I may never have the chance again, and each performance could be the last and should go Am I alone in this? I first saw Brian in 2001, so not too long after he got back onto the road on a regular basis. That was the joint tour with Paul Simon, who headlined. I strongly considered leaving after Wilson, actually, but stayed for Simon and really did love that, too. I don't know what I was thinking, as I always really loved Simon, too. I think I just figured it would be hard to top the experience of seeing Wilson, who was more a mythical figure to me then than he was a live, performing musician.
I haven't seen him every year since, but I have seen him probably 6-8 times, most recently with a Pet Sounds show in I think 2017. Those shows throughout the years have been hit and miss.
I have worried I'd never have the chance again, starting as early as probably the Smile shows, to be honest. And definitely the past few times it has been on my mind. But after that Pet Sounds show, as terrible as he was, I looked almost from the other way around. Do I want to watch that anymore? As of now, no: I skipped the Christmas kickoff show, which happened here.
I'm not saying I'll never see another one, but I'm not counting on it. Unless something changes my perspective, I'm guessing that awful Pet Sounds show (with Matt the real star of the evening) will be the last time I saw BW live.

I was fully content on a PS show I attended in September 2016 being the last time I see Brian Wilson in person.
But, my father is taking my mother to see him, as she didn't get a chance before, and he graciously offered tickets for my wife and me. So, it's a short drive, and a free show.

http://instagram.com/p/ByX2hggh8i2 "It is with great regret that I need to postpone my upcoming June tour. It is no secret that I have been living with mental illness for many decades. There were times when it was unbearable but with doctors and medications I have been able to live a wonderful, healthy and productive life with support from my family, friends and fans who have helped me through this journey. As you may know in the last year or so I’ve had 3 surgeries on my back. The surgeries were successful and i’m physically stronger than i’ve been in a long time. However, after my last surgery i started feeling strange and it’s been pretty scary for awhile. I was not feeling like myself. Mentally insecure is how I’d describe it. We're not sure what is causing it but i do know that it’s not good for me to be on the road right now so I’m heading back to Los Angeles. I had every intention to do these shows and was excited to get back to performing. I've been in the studio recording and rehearsing with my band and have been feeling better. But then it crept back and I’ve been struggling with stuff in my head and saying things I don’t mean and I don’t know why. Its something i’ve never dealt with before and we cant quite figure it out just yet. I’m going to rest, recover and work with my doctors on this. I’m looking forward to my recovery and seeing everyone later in the year. The music and my fans keep me going and I know this will be something I can AGAIN overcome. Love & Mercy, Brian Wilson" It's a relief that he said something but I feel so badly for him. I hope they can adjust his medications and he can feel better soon.

Wow. But good for him for both doing the right thing for himself (and his audience) and being open about it.
Also, though...”in the studio”? I like!

Needless to say, my thoughts and best wishes are with Brian while he confronts these health issues. Hopefully with the help of his family, friends, fans, and medical staff, he can again recover and overcome.

This could explain why (at least on the videos I saw), Brian seemed very disengaged at last year's shows.
I'm glad he's taking a break to get well.

Even though I was looking forward to seeing him in a couple weeks, it was pretty clear that something was going on beyond his usual "off nights." I hope he's able to get better, though honestly I fear the worst.

What happened to today’s posts in this thread about Brian backing out of some shows for health reasons?
