Updated the first post with Kokomo (8.5) Rating-wise, it was fortunate to not have a B-side to drag it down. (Which makes it an unfair/imperfect comparison, but it is what it is.)

I was thinking that same thing. Though we had a pair of other tunes without B-sides under consideration ("Wipeout," "East Meets West") where a B-side might've helped!

It's hard to improve on the b-side of Kokomo for pure rock and roll - but can't give the Beach Boys any credit for it! In fact, I believe Tutti Frutti was the b-side to all the Cocktail singles - Hippy Hippy Shake by Georgia Satellites was one of them; was Powerful Stuff by the Fabulous Thunderbirds one of them? Seems like there was a John Mellencamp single, too, and one by Starship.

Updated initial post with "Don't Fight the Sea"/"Friends" (acappella) (8.0) That's a surprisingly high rating for a single I wasn't even aware of.

Updated initial post with "Don't Fight the Sea"/"Friends" (acappella) (8.0) That's a surprisingly high rating for a single I wasn't even aware of. It's almost like the voters didn't take your (lack of) knowledge into account in their votes!
But seriously, the single release would've been easy to miss, in that it was just in a limited physical quantity for Record Store Day and the song had already been released on Al's solo album the year before. I think it got a lot more discussion then, when it was released on (and maybe even previewed before?) Al's album. Almost a year later for RSD, it was almost an afterthought because the novelty of it had largely worn off.
