Heard Herb Alpert's sprightly rendition of the theme tune from Casino Royale (1967) yesterday on Dutch classical radio, where they're doing a film music Top 200. Love that high trumpet line and the fuzz notes at the end: I love that early Herb Alpert stuff. Growing up, it seemed like there was a continuous flow of Tijuana Brass singles on the radio. Great melodies and arrangements. Years later, I purchased Classics Volume 1 - one great track after another. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass had such a unique sound and it's fascinating how it resonated with the masses. Most of those albums went Top 3!
