The virus has finally made its way to my hometown. All the neighboring towns had had a few confirmed cases over the past week or so and now it's here. NY really has been exploding. This is not ending any time soon. Certainly not in the Northeast.

Yesterday I learned my sister "likely has a relatively mild case of COVID-19." However, she got her "diagnosis" via telemedicine conerence, and was instructed not to come in for a formal test and she will not receive treatment of any kind unless her symptoms worsen. (Her symptoms are a horrible cough, mostly; not unprecedented in her life, but bad enough to qualify as really nasty.)
Glad to hear it's mild enough not to warrant further treatment (and that her husband and son recovered from, likely, the same illness).

You know, most of the discussion about the various sports being cancelled centers around the NBA, MLB, and the NCAA. But there are now two other huge sporting events cancelled. Who can think of spring and golf and not think of The Masters. It's the biggest PGA tournament of them all. And now I just read that Wimbleton is cancelled, too. I have no idea if and when they will be re-scheduled.

I heard Wimbledon was outright cancelled; whereas, the French Open was postponed.

Liberty University ... I thought they were Baptists, but apparently they behave like Christian Scientists and have decided there's no reason to keep kids off campus during the pandemic.

Well, I just got the text - another week (at least) closed - and after exhausting my PTO, it's on to Cincinnati, I mean unemployment compensation. Just trying to keep things light. Quarantunes anybody?

Have you been able to access your state's unemployment system? I know some places--here, included--are having either indefinite hold times for those on the phone or web outages for those trying online. Good luck.

Funny you should ask that. I just called the local UC office for assistance and that wasn't much help. A recorded message directed me to a "UC hotline" which was busy and probably will be continuously. As you mentioned, and as my boss suggested, I'm going to try to sign up online. I'm putting it off because, as you know, I'm not very technology-savvy, and I have the blues of trying to navigate the website. I guess I'll try now; no use in putting it off any longer.
EDIT: Just signed up for unemployment online. It wasn't too bad, just a few questions/boxes that frustratingly kept me from proceeding to the next page, but I made it!

Minneapolis announced the closing of all beaches, pools, park restrooms, park drinking fountains, etc., for the entire summer. Parks remain open, for the time being. (But not for long visits, with no restrooms!)

I had tickets to see Ringo in Baltimore in June, and that show also got moved to pretty much a year from the day.

I've never seen Ringo before, so when he announced a Baltimore date, I jumped on it because, you never know. But, I hear you with Ringo turning 80 this year, and Mike turning 80 next, we're getting deep into the 4th quarter with these guys.

I have a couple of friends who saw Ringo recently and said it was a great show. I'm gonna be bugging them to try to get tickets again somewhere - and call ME this time!
