COVID has really made Ringo's touring schedule a mess. His tour was postponed twice (2020 and 2021). Then, they finally played some shows earlier this summer before Edgar Winter got the COVID. Then, resumed last month. Now, Ringo has it. It has, but considering his age and the ages of most of his band mates, I don't blame them for being super-careful, either.

And, it's got to be frustrating for somebody like Ringo. He's 82, he probably knows he doesn't have a ton of touring left. And, he usually tours each year, but had to bow out for two years, now the tour's been interrupted twice.

That might be part of why he's been active releasing EPs. He hasn't had the time commitments of touring to the same extent.

Another sure sign that things are returning to normal.
There's a person in my office that I've heard incessantly coughing for the last two days. Not that long ago, she'd have been ordered to go home after about 15 minutes.

It occurred to me yesterday as I sat in a conference room with about 25 people--all really snuggled together shoulder to shoulder because space was limited, nary a mask in sight--that for most people, whatever the ongoing risks may or may not be, people have largely moved on.
Granted, the bakery down the street that still requires masks (the only place I know of like that in town) is an outlier...but their sourdough is so good!

I haven't seen any place here, outside of medical offices, require masks in months.
I've also noticed that the local news agencies have not been sharing the daily COVID metrics in quite some time.

Yeah, the aforementioned bakery is kind of nuts. That said, I personally think it's pretty performative. I say that because they also put up a bunch of culture war-type signs that, well, I won't get into their details in this thread. But suffice to say, they were also very performative, very out of the ordinary for a bakery, and even befuddling. So I look at the mask requirement as mostly that kind of insistence that this is still a massive issue and, by wearing and forcing others to wear masks, they are the real heroes...
But as I said before, the sourdough there is so good! So I don a goddamn mask for a couple minutes every couple weeks when I go buy a loaf.

They sound like real peaches, but I'm not overly judging when it comes to matters of the stomach. As long as they don't try to preach to me when I'm there. I do still carry a mask with me at all times just in case.

That stinks. I just saw a post yesterday about the tour about to resume.

I decided to get my latest COVID booster yesterday evening.
Other than the sore arm, I'm extremely tired today. Even an extra cup of coffee really didn't help.
This is why I elected to get the shot on a Monday, so this fatigue wouldn't affect my weekend.

Damnit, thanks for the reminder. For weeks now, I keep thinking I need to do that--I want to get it at least several weeks in advance of Thanksgiving, as I understand full effectiveness takes a while. I'm not especially worried or anything, but I do want to be as safe as possible once we get into the holidays, considering my parents' ages. I really need to go do that.
While we're on the topic, a colleague of mine claimed in a call yesterday that she caught covid at a conference this past week. This is, by my count, the 6th time she has claimed to have covid. To put it in perspective, though, she has also skipped key annual leadership meetings roughly every-other year for various illnesses (she'll fly in, then stay in her hotel room), and I can't even estimate how often she's claimed to be having important oral surgery and thus has to miss calls, meetings, etc. Dozens of times. She has a few go-to excuses, and she really milks them... Covid seems like her ideal gift from heaven.

At least somebody's benefitting. That's one of the reasons I decided to get it now. Our holiday celebrations tend to begin before Thanksgiving, with my son's school's Christmas bazaar, and our trip to the beach for their Christmas light display. So, I made sure to get flu and COVID shots out of the way, to hopefully not interrupt anything, or get anyone sick.

Well, so much for that plan. I was going to duck out over lunch to get my booster today, so I confirmed the place I got my previous one last year is doing walk-ins again. Yes, we take walk-ins between 11:30 and 5. OK. And are you generally busy? I just don't want to waste the trip and come home empty. No way to know, but you can come between 11:30 and 5. OK, then can I make an appointment, just to confirm a time in advance? (The website didn't seem to indicate you could.) We take walk-ins between 11:30 and 5.
After a few failed go-rounds trying to get that answer of whether appointments were possible (they are for flu shots, but not listed for covid ones on the site), I just drove the 15 minutes or so to the spot where I'd try to get my booster. I wait in line, and when it's my turn to ask what I am looking for, I say the covid booster. And ... that's a 45 minute wait. Coupled with the 15 minute drive each direction and the requested 10 minute wait after the shot, that's approaching an hour and a half. So obviously I didn't have that kind of time, and went home.
Had the person on the phone just tried to actually answer my question, the trip could have been avoided.
