Haha! I know those days - my BODY is at work - but my mind not at all! Enjoy your vacation!

I looked at a house yesterday and apparently an offer was already accepted before I even got there.

Spent the past hour or so trying to remember how to play and then lay down basic tracks for a rockabilly sort of song I wrote a dozen years ago. I have a guitar-and-voice crappy scratch recording from 2009 to work from. (Thankfully it wasn't very hard. Just an oddball chord or two.)
Alas, my left hand started cramping going from a month or so of barely playing anything to trying to keep up eighth-note walking bass through most of the song! Guess I'll return to it later...and perhaps I'll stretch and warm up properly next time.

I'm enjoying the last several hours of vacation.
We're back in Baltimore after a week in Ocean City, Maryland. I'm unpacked, my clothes and lunch are ready for my return to work tomorrow, and an exhausted three and a half year old is asleep.
I'm on the deck with a beer. The light from the sun will fade in the next half hour.
A family vacation is full of moments of frustration, exhaustion, and unbelieveable joy. As time separates me from the past week, memories of the former two emotions fade, and the latter is what will be remembered. Those joyful memories last forever. I'm sad it's over, but thankful for the experience.

It appears that youtube is now blocked at the office. This stinks. Now I have no way to listen to music or watch whatever since my job requires me to have my headset on in case a call comes in.

That stinks. How about Spotify, Pandora, or Audacy? Spotify and Pandora were blocked a few months ago. I hadn't heard of Audacy before. I can get to the site, but nothing will play for me. Friday mornings are usually pretty slow and I liked passing the time by listening to new music, but now I guess I'll just twiddle my thumbs or keep refreshing the page on the forums I still visit.

It's kinda sad that I feel the need to post this on July 23rd........
A couple days ago, I was at my local grocery store when I saw Halloween candy in the seasonal aisle.
So....that prompted me to visit my local location of the Total Wine liquor store chain to do a build your own six pack for summer beers. Because, for some reason, breweries will probably have their fall seasonals out within the next couple weeks. Granted, I'll still be able to get some summer seasonals well into August at the bigger liquor stores like Total Wine, the choices will very soon be limited.
So, I've got six new summer seasonals to try tomorrow night.

Oddly enough, Pandora is blocked here, but not Spotify. Until I caved and went for the Premium Summer Special, it was the only way I could listen to albums in sequential order. I think Audacy replaced Radio.Com a few months ago. I downloaded it on my phone, and was able to listen to the Orioles opener while grilling back in April.

We were really disappointed to not really care for any of the ones we drank lol. I think we each have one left. Tonight will be a good night to sit by the fire, so maybe I'll have that plus some beers that have been in the fridge for far too long.

If you come across a beer you don't like, you don't have to suffer five more of them or put them in exile in the back of the fridge. When I was down the beach last week, one of the bigger liquor stores down there has a build your own six option. I accidentally selected a non alcoholic summer beer. In my defense, the NA beers at most liquor stores have their own sections.

This reminds me of when I first saw Leinie's Berry Weiss. It was very early in the craft beer craze ('99?), and so frankly drinking Leinie's original or Honey Weiss was almost as far-out as it tended to get, along with maybe Sam Adams, Pete's Wicked Ale, and Summit Pale Ale. Otherwise most liquor stores and bars basically just sold the macros.
Anyway, I got a 12-pack of Berry Weiss. I don't know why. Eleven of those things sat in my fridge for months.
Build-your-own-6s are definitely the better way to try a new beer!

Within the hour I'll be packing up and leaving the little cabin/cottage I've been at this week. Farewell to the horses, the deer, the little forest and field critters of all types, the peace and quiet, the campfire; and hello again to Minneapolis.
Next week--Tuesday, because I took a little "grace period" that will also mean my return is a short week!--it's back to work.

I can't really pinpoint when crafts really blew up here in Maryland. It's been going on, more underground, since the late 1980s, but I feel like it really started to explode in the late 00s / early 10s. And, I say this because back in 2007, I don't recall a ton of options for summer beer. I don't even think Sam Adams had done their Summer Ale yet. But, the Miller corporation decided to do their version of a summer beer called Miller Chill. One weekend, I excitedly brought home a six pack, and instantly regretted my decision upon the first sip. Until sour beers were invented, this was the worst beer of all time. It was sour and salty. Being the trooper I am, I powered down the whole sixer, and did so fairly quickly just to be rid of the stuff. Apparently, I was not the only one who shared this opinion as Miller didn't bring it back the following year. Speaking of Leinie's, I've been a fan of their Summer Shandy for a while. Last summer, I predicted that their Native American logo would gone from their bans / bottles. Turns out, I was correct. Kap, since that's one of your local beers, was their any news about taking the logo away, or did they just quietly do it?
