I haven’t visited any craft breweries lately so I can’t say I’ve noticed the trend in those particular establishments, but in these parts it’s certainly not unheard of for people to bring their kids to bars with them (usually pubs). I can’t say I really care all that much, as long as I don’t have to watch my language (or their kids). But I will say I don’t really understand WHY they bring the kids. Isn’t the point of going out to a bar to, I dunno, get away from them for a bit? Spend a few hours talking in a normal voice to people whose nicknames aren’t Poopy Crankypants? But as someone who doesn’t have kids, I can’t pretend I understand what it’s really like, so… As somebody who has a child, yes, on the rare occasion that I go out to drink, that's exactly why I do - to have time with adults and do adult things, and talk about adult things. Last weekend, I was able to spend a couple hours with some old friends at a bar. It was great. As much as I love being a parent, sometimes you need a couple hours to adult.

Nice that you had a chance to get out with friends before this self-isolation situation started. It's just odd that some parents choose to go out to drink with their kids, when you can drink with the kids at home. Although I do understand the need for a change of scenery (boy do I understand it!). We had virtual drinks with our friends via video chat on fb messenger last night (I had no idea you could even do that!). I honestly have no idea how we'd get through this without the internet.

That sucks about your plans, kds. Maybe you can put the little one to bed and take a booze cruise in different rooms of the house.
We're planning to have another virtual drinks night with our friends again this weekend, but this time it's going to involve wearing costumes made from things found around the house while having a hard liquor tea party out of china tea cups. So yeah, shit's starting to get weird, lol. But it's a silly and fun thing to look forward to.

Our latest form of entertainment is watching a travel vlogger on YouTube called The Carpetbagger. I can also still do my deck drinks with some music on during the COVID19 Crisis.

The other day my husband suggested we put the patio set back out. It was snowing, lol.

Of course, my stays out there tend to last a little longer on warmer nights.

A cloudy but moderate day ahead, I woke early--my sleep has been strange lately, presumably because my body is confused as to why it is in this damn house all the time and thus is off rhythm!--and decided to get in some exercise early ... so as not to feel obligated to do it later, when I want to unwind.
So I took a few-mile walk in the darkness of early morning, passing only a single soul in the process, and was home to make coffee and breakfast by 6. You know what? Very refreshing!

I spent the past hour or so working--though we may want to put that in ironic quotes--from my patio. The forecast wasn't quite right and it's been partly sunny much of the day. 58 and partly sunny in March in Minnesota? That's definitely outdoor weather!
And, well, I may have opened a Sweet Child of Vine IPA. Or two. So far.
As awful as many things are for many people right now, and while they're at least inconvenient for many more, I'm pretty damn thankful for the beautiful day, good health, and relative prosperity in the grand scheme of things. Not to get all sincere on everyone...

Apparently, the biggest new thing in pop culture now is "The Tiger King." I watched half an episode with my wife last night. I don't get it. Maybe people are this bored due to COVID19? Or, is this really what passes for entertainment now?

My natural inclination when I start seeing something pop up all over the place as the thing you need to watch: everybody's watching it! is not to watch. And that's been my relationship to "The Tiger King" so far: see its name, see little comments on or reactions to it (and not know what they're talking about) ... and move on.
Your comment certainly doesn't make me want to give it a try, either!

From what I heard about it, my interest level was already less than zero. My wife wanted to check it out, and I thought maybe at best, it'll be mindless trainwreck TV, but it wasn't even that.

It's rough if something can't rise to the level of "mindless trainwreck"!

It's rough if something can't rise to the level of "mindless trainwreck"! It amazes me to no end. In 2020, thanks to streaming, we have limitless possibilities for entertainment, and this is the kind of thing people chose.

I really wonder how people's tastes would change if they weren't influenced by peer pressure or marketing. If there were just a list of options (even with previews and summaries), but no social media, etc. Because I think a lot of people watch and listen to things mostly on that basis, and don't really care that much about the underlying work.
