Jeff hasn't been at recent shows and Brian Eichenberger is back with the band. Anyone know what's up?

No idea and the usual sources are very quiet. There is rampant speculation that he's no longer with the band at all. I was going to skip next week's show here but I'm tempted to go along and see what's up...

Wow, that would be surprising if he's gone for good. Maybe 150 shows per year was too much after all? I like Brian's falsetto better anyway, so it's not a huge loss.

I'm going to see them in May. Brian Eichenberger is from one of the many incarnations of the Four Freshmen, right?

I know that's where he had been prior to joining Brian's band for that brief period (prior to joining Mike's band), at least.

They were at Royal Albert Hall and had a great setlist as usual. Here's Summertime Blues, I'm sure it'll sound the same on the album.

That version ^ of "Summertime Blues" would sound great before or after "Rockaway Beach" which I'm assuming they performed.

The applause were mostly cut off, but it seemed to get a great reception from the audience. And, yet we in the US get the cookie cutter setlists all summer long.

According to www.thebeachboys.com/tour/ it seems that the current Beach Boys tour is called "12 Sides Of Summer". Check out the graphic at the link. He's also selling "12 Sides Of Summer" shirts with the Beach Boys logo over the cover art from his solo album of the same name. Above photo posted by HeyJude at SSMB.

Mike has taken the cross-marketing a bit far in the past, but this is the most obvious attempt to piggyback on The Beach Boys' name/brand. Yeah, I'm a little surprised this got through. But, I've said it before and I'll say it again. When it was voted to give Mike the Beach Boys' name for touring, it was obvious that they - Brian Wilson included - sold out, literally, taking the money in exchange for The Beach Boys' name. I'll be surprised if they do anything about this, as long as that direct deposit ($$$$$$$$$) keeps showing up in their checking accounts.

BRI can allow Mike to tour as "The Beach Boys" without putting up with stunts like this. They own the trademark. They have the power. They just don't care and neither does Mike. How about announcing and promoting the 1969 copyright extension release? You know, the actual Beach Boys release.

I would think that Mike's attorneys notified BRI about what they were going to do promotion-wise. If they didn't, that took a lot of brass. Or, like you said, maybe they knew that BRI wouldn't care anyway. Who knows, maybe if enough people protest, it'll get back to BRI and they'll stop it. Mike will then have to stash those T-shirts away in some warehouse with the SMiLE booklets and album slicks.
I wouldn't think too many Beach Boys' fans care or even notice this. I'm sure some knowledgeable Beach Boys' fans will see it and wince, maybe sigh, shake their heads, and mumble under their breath something like, "Here we go again..." This is definitely an opportunity for The Haters to do their thing and continuously complain about it, destroy Mike's character, maybe stage a boycott of Beach Boys' concerts, and if all else fails, hire Robert Mueller.
Where is Jerry Schilling in all of this and what stance is he taking, if any? What was he hired for? Maybe he's too busy negotiating a deal for another tribute album with a symphony orchestra. $$$$$$$$
And that's what it's all about with The Beach Boys - negotiating to make money. Brian's wifeandmanagers and Carl's Estate might not care about some T-shirts, key chains, and solo CDs. But you can be sure their accountants are checking their bank accounts religiously and making sure the direct deposit credit appears after Mike & Bruce play the Joe Sixpack Civic Center in Palookaville, PA. Mike play-I get check. I do nothing-thousands and thousands of dollars for me.
You know, I'd really like to see BRI fight this. The Haters will tell you that it's too expensive to fight and who needs the stress of another lawsuit, but I wouldn't agree. I'm no attorney, but this appears to be a matter of Business Law 101 or Contract Law 101, stuff that is taught freshman year in college. It wouldn't take very many hours to prepare a case - on either side. No Beach Boy will ever have to worry about testifying. It would be a battle of business attorneys, financial analysts, and a bunch of financial statements. Both sides can ask for a quick resolution due to the timely nature of the case and special circumstances (an ongoing/present, expensive tour). I don't see why a case like this would be "tied up in the courts" or why a judge couldn't come to a relatively quick decision. But there ain't gonna be no lawsuit. I'm guessing things will just...go along, business as usual.
You're next, Mike Love!

Yeah, the way some fans tell it, the licensee has taken the licensor hostage. Except, that's not how the law works. Both sides are at fault. In the grand scheme of things, am I losing any sleep over this? No. But, when you sit back and really think about it - it's an absolute mess. I mean, this is THE BEACH BOYS we're talking about. Mike must think he is owed this. To do whatever he wants. For his years of service and the fee that he pays. If I were him, I'd be far too embarrassed to so flagrantly conflate my solo career with my former group (which just so happens to be beloved the world over).

If I were him, I'd be far too embarrassed to so flagrantly conflate my solo career with my former group (which just so happens to be beloved the world over). I see what you're saying, but again, I don't think many people will even notice, and even less will care. When I think of the type of people who are attending Beach Boys' concerts these days - and this isn't a knock against them in any way - they probably aren't going to put two and two together. And, for the ones that do, the ones who do notice Mike's album advertised/marketed in tandem with The Beach Boys' name, they aren't really going to care. Why would they? It's people like you and I, Beach Boys' nuts, diehards who still talk and write about the group, we're the only ones this is going to resonate with. And we'll get over it.
And as far as Mike being embarrassed, I doubt that's going to happen either. Mike is a different animal, that's not in his makeup. He'll find a way to rationalize it. I can see Mike coming up with some logic that "packaging" his solo album with The Beach Boys' name will actually increase ticket sales, thus making more money for BRI. A win-win situation. I'm not kidding.
