I noticed that it is produced by Pushkin Industries, which is Malcolm Gladwell's podcast/entertainment company. They do Gladwell's (and Rick Rubin's) Broken Record podcast and produced Gladwell's audio book/documentary with Paul Simon. That makes me suspect it's not just going to be two guys talking, but a high-production value show more like a radio documentary.

Paul McCartney will become the last of 7.888 billion people on earth to have a podcast beginning in September, when he and poet Paul Muldoon will launch McCartney: A Life in Lyrics. The concept is more or less summed up in the title: they will discuss his lyrics, both Beatles and solo. I want to be optimistic, but the cynical side of me suspects we're going to hear a careful Paul mostly just retelling the stories he's retold so many times before. The bigger the celebrity, usually the duller the podcast. (Bruce Springsteen and former President Obama had one, and while it should have been spectacular, it was agonizing. I think the spotlight is just too bright for some people, and it sanitizes the product.) The trailer is below. If it's like other Paul products, it will be 90% Beatles stories, with a brief overview of his career since then. Yes, Paul loves to tell John Lennon stories, loves to relive his Beatle years; if it had been up to Paul, the Beatles never would have broke up. He'll be doing a lot of press when Now and Then drops. "I was the one who worked closely with John, eyeball to eyeball; he'd start off insulting me, and then we'd finish a song together."

I don't know how Paul could possibly be 80-something. He could easily pass for 50-something, and the gray hair looks much better on him than the bad dye job he had for many years. Now, if I close my eyes, and just listen to the performance - yeah, he's 80, alright. The crowd singing along partially obscures his ravaged voice.

I don't know about "ravaged" voice. He's lost a lot, of course, as anyone that age has. But that's also a challenging song to sing: that second note is a high A! And the majority of it is in the territory of D to A. That's legit tenor range. Honestly I think it's a strange choice for him, considering the register. But hey, it's a rocker. A little yelling never hurt anybody.

The gray hair on some older musicians is fine, but on others it's just too...depressing to me. Am I shallow? I wish Brian Wilson would NOT have gone with the gray hair look. I'm not a fan of the bad dye jobs you're referring to either, but hey, these guys have the resources and connections. Shop around more!

I could not disagree more. Go natural, that's my advice to not just aging musicians or pop stars or actors, but literally everyone. Hopefully this doesn't come across as too rude to anyone who feels or acts differently, but I don't think there is much of anything more pathetic than someone trying to combat aging by paints, dyes, or surgeries.
Time wins ... every single time. And it deserves respect. That's my $0.02.

Paul still looks much younger than Brian. I don't know why a guy with a great head of hair like Brian insists on sticking with "the business man's special". Let it grow, let it flow, let it blossom....

Ringo looks amazing, Fogerty looks good, but the others are getting very wrinkly. And yet, not a grey hair among them!

Unsurprisingly, Paul McCartney announced a 50th anniversary reissue of Band on the Run. There will be two alternate versions: a Dolby Atmos version, and the rough mixes done by Geoff Emerick and Pete Swettenhem at AIR Studios in October 1973, prior to the orchestral overdubs. (McCartney calls this the "underdubbed" version.)
