I am hearing rumblings that some/many/all of these postponed games will not be made up. The schedule is so compressed right now that there isn't enough room on off-days, and double-headers are not desirable either.

Yeah, it's highly unlikely. Since the 60 game season is going to have a big asterisk on it anyway, there's probably no reason to make the games up.

I mean, the standings are a bit of a joke anyway for this season. I'd take it for what it is. It might even be fun, with a shorter sprint as opposed to the usual 162 game grind.

I had said maybe I'd try to start watching some Twins baseball this season, but haven't yet gotten around to it. The team has gone 9-2. If I were superstitious, I would take that as a sign that I shouldn't watch because things are going well without me!

The Orioles sit at a surprising 5-4, thanks in large part to a three game sweep over a Tampa team that many picked to win the AL East. However, they did suffer a setback after a loss to the COVID depleted Marlins.

Despite the setback against Miami, the Orioles are a surprising 10-7 after sweeping Philly.
I will say they've been fun to watch.

Thanks in part to the seemingly ageless Nelson Cruz. Not trying to resign him after our 2014 AL East Championship season was the beginning of the downfall of the Buck Showalter era Orioles.

Uhh, 8-11 and barely hanging on to a playoff spot? Reds bullpen has been terrible so far. Now of course in the past two games the starters have gone a combined 3 innings or so while the bullpen has been great.

And now a player tested positive, so games today and tomorrow are postponed. Here's to hoping this doesn't become a Cardinals situation.

So, I've been watching baseball for thirty years, and have read tons of books and watched plenty of docs on the game's history. I never knew there was an unwritten rule that you don't swing at a 3-0 pitch if you have a big lead late in a game.
Rising star Fernando Tatis Jr, hit a 3-0 pitch for a grand slam late in a game against the Rangers where the Padres already had a 7-0 lead. Apparently, the Rangers' feelings were so hurt that they threw at the next hitter.
Seriously, I never knew competitive athletes had such thin skin. This is the kind of archaic nonsense that'll keep the game from gaining new fans.

Thank you! While I've not been anywhere near that serious a fan, I have watched on and off since 1987 (a very, very good year for the Twins!). Even if my fandom has been casual at best, my older brother was and is a VERY serious fan, and I've gotten a lot through osmosis, frankly.
And I'd never heard of any such thing.
Luckily, in the response to this "incident," I've seen plenty of players and former players speaking up to say the same thing: what the hell are you talking about with this "unwritten rule"!? There's no such thing!

This morning, I heard a soundbyte from Buck Showalter, who is a pretty old school manager, and even he said that these guys should take a chill pill.
My interest in the game itself has waned over the last decade. I've not watched a game that hasn't involved my Orioles in close to ten years. I feel the game has fallen into the hands of numbers / sabremetrics guys, and out of the hands of people who actually teach fundamental baseball. As a result, the game has become increasingly one dimensional, and actually tough to watch.

I actually feel similarly about basketball, though to a lesser degree. Thanks to analytics, it's mostly guys chucking 3s.
