That's awesome. I'm really looking forward to seeing this, not that I think it's going to be the greatest thing ever or full of insights, but partly just because the reviews I've read seem generally mixed, and yet here it's winning an award, too. I'm curious to see for myself what we're getting!
Oh, I'm also excited to see it because I'm a Brian Wilson fan. I mean, why wouldn't I want to see it?

I don't know if I missed it, but has it been announced how it can be streamed once released?
I saw something on Brian's FB page that said it'll be available through VOD, but I don't think it specified how.

We don't know the platform yet, but it is to be released in theaters and streaming on demand in November.
"Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road, the new documentary on the legendary musical genius that had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, has been acquired for distribution by Screen Media for release in theaters and video on demand in November."

I'm hoping it's one that I already subscribe to (or whose password I might or might not borrow from time to time).

I'm finding the whole streaming thing a little overwhelming myself.

Thanks for posting!
A lot of the commentary in that trailer is certainly along the lines of what we've heard before, though it's mostly from different people here. But there are some bits of footage I haven't seen before, or that at least haven't come up in docs before. And we get to hear a little of a new song.
I don't mean to be a downer, but I will say I don't care for the lyrics I hear. It strikes me as yet another of the "I've been through a lot, but I've come through it" kind of things. I hate that. I really do. I'm sorry, I hate "affirmation rock," as I've called it when I hear it from the modern pop musicians who do it, too. Self-esteem rock. Whatever. That said, I'm excited to hear the song, because it's usually not so hard to get past some lyrics. (Thank goodness for Beach Boys fans.)
Very much looking forward to its release.

Thanks for the link, Emdeeh!
Has Elton John or Bruce Springsteen covered any BB/BW songs on their albums and/or performed any in concert? Hey, where was Paul McCartney?

According to this website, Springsteen has covered a half dozen or so live. Of course he has also joined Brian on stage and done more that way.

The conductor * Gustavo Dudamel* is a real catch -- he's big business in the classical orchestral world.

That's a cool website. I've never seen it before. It's too bad, though, that the dates or venues couldn't be included.

Is it weird that we still don't know where this will be available to be streamed? I'd imagine the theater release will be pretty limited as well. The song didn't sound bad, although I heard some shouty Brian and it has those Brian's back (again) type lyrics that have been trotted out for numerous songs now. And yes, it seems odd that Paul McCartney isn't in this. With all of that said, I'm still really looking forward to it!
