I see Mr. Herman directed Oklahoma!, a musical that brings back some memories.
May he rest in peace.

What sad news. I was talking to someone about the Bonzos mere hours ago! I used to own this BDB classic. RIP, Mr Innes.

I'm a little late with this, but Lee Mendelson passed away on Christmas day at the age of 86. Lee produced more than 60 specials featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts gang.
Lee also wrote the lyrics to "Christmastime Is Here", one of my favorite holiday tunes:

The man behind arguably the most beloved Christmas special of all time (my favorite, at least), and the soundtrack is in my Top Ten favorite Christmas albums.

Rush's Neil Peart, one of the great drummers in history, passed at 67, after a three year battle with brain cancer.

But, yes, one of the great drummers in rock history. A fine lyricist, too... I didn't know he was sick. He retired a few years ago, which pretty much meant the end of Rush. In the late 90s, he lost his daughter and wife back to back, and took a five year break from music. He's been a pretty private person since.

Actually, the last year or so I was expecting to hear some news about the group getting back together to do something. Now, this sad news explains why that announcement never came.

For some reason, Rush was not a reunion I saw coming. Neil didn't seem interested, and Alex said arthritis made it extremely painful for him to play guitar. But, it was nice knowing there was at least a possibility. I'm thankful I got to see them in person once.

Did they play my favorite Rush song, "Working Man"? it was 2002. Unfortunately, their new (and rather lackluster IMO) album Vapor Trails was pretty heavy in the set. But, I got to hear 2112 Overture / Temples of Syrinx. They did Working Man for the encore. They came to Baltimore about ten years ago on a tour where they played both the 2112 and Moving Pictures albums. I always regretted not going to that one.
