Well without getting too intrusive, has anyone gotten a hearing aid because of loss of hearing due to age or other circumstances? The professor is wondering what effect it's going to have to get a hearing aid and whether it's going to make certain Beach Boys songs and other music really sound better. The professor is waiting for one but when he tried the sample in the store he could hear all kinds of sounds in high frequencies that he never could before or at least not for decades. So does anybody have the experience of cranking up Beach Boy music and hearing parts and instruments and elements that they never heard before, after they got a hearing aid? Thank you all so much

I can share experiences of a few people I was close to, not about the Beach Boys but about music generally. A good number of (meaning 15-20) years ago, my grandmother on one side and my grandfather on the other each got hearing aids. In both cases, they complained about amplified music generally, and high frequencies in particular, being overly loud and almost painful. It led my grandpa to turn his off during church services (although considering the changing styles of music in his church over the years, I have always suspected that was more about tuning out modern music, when he preferred the likes of gospel quartets), and my grandma to avoid using hers altogether (although with her, the family always suspected vanity as the real issue).
But it is worth noting these were both well over a decade ago, and frankly in both cases I'm guessing they got the cheapest available models. So the technology now may be far beyond what they used at that time. When I got glasses as a 9th grader, I remember being amazed at how clearly I could see leaves on the trees along the sides of the road, or out the window, across the street, and so on. I had, of course, gotten used to seeing things a little bit blurry, little by little. If you've had hearing loss, I'm guessing you've gotten used to hearing things that way, and there might be something similar that will happen once you have the hearing aids. But I can't say from first-hand experience.

All I can do is tell my colleagues here that if you think you have hearing loss and you can get hearing aids please get them because I got them now and the first song I listened to was surfer girl and then in my room and I heard them as I never heard them before.
