Speaking of tours, the Trans Siberian Orchestra have just announced their 2021 Christmas tour.
Now, this is a band who can pull off shows should a member or two test positive. There are actually two versions of the TSO who tour simultaneously, an East Coast and West Coast version with a different set of musicians.

Here is an example of concerts in the COVID era. Last night, the Doobie Bros. played the Minnesota State Fair. However, Michael McDonald contracted COVID despite being vaxxed, and could not perform. The show went on without him, which leads to a whole new question about music these days: is it better for bands to postpone shows in such situations, or to carry on with people missing? (Obviously it depends on the band and the absent member: solo acts or small groups are less likely to be able to carry on than a band like the Doobies.)
I'm kinda leaning towards postponing if a prominent member can't perform. I'm not really a big fan of Michael McDonald's contributions to The Doobie Brothers, but as I recall, they made a pretty big deal out of it when it was announced he was going to tour with them again. Yeah, it depends on how prominent the member is. KISS postponing their shows when Paul Stanley got COVID is a perfect example. They might've been able to get another guitarist to fill in and maybe even distribute his vocals among the band members (or feature mostly Gene Simmons' songs ), but that show would've been a sham...or a money grab. I'm glad they are cancelling.
I'm not a follower of The Doobie Brothers, but I know that Michael McDonald is an important member of that band. Many of their hits feature him on lead vocals. If I was a Doobies' fan and found out that the show was still going on without him, I think I'd be pissed - unless you're not a fan of McDonald.

I wouldn't have put it past Gene and Paul to have replacements waiting in the wings who could be the Star Child or the Demon should Paul or Gene get COVID. I guess even they have limits.

I'm undecided about seeing the Beach Boys on Monday. On the plus side, it's at the fair, so it's outdoors. On the down side, they pack those fans into the grandstands tight. Loved the show in 2019, but a lot has changed since then.

This is the only place they play out here. Never see them advertised for casino or theater shows. The last time they were at the fair, it was a pretty diverse set - lots of hits, but also a few songs from Mike's most recent solo cd, including Here Comes the Sun, California Sun, Rockaway Beach, and Pisces Brothers from Unleash the Love. So I've no reason to suspect the Feel Flows songs will be dropped from this show. But I'm nervous about being in crowd of 7000 people sitting bumper to bumper right now.The only thing I know for sure this weekend is that I will be seeing local band Jr. Cadillac for their 51st anniversary - probably a couple hundred people for that show, at, again, a fair.

Hopefully if you attend, they leave in those FF era songs. I kinda wish I'd have driven to Selbyville to see All I Wanna Do in concert.

I'm not surprised that Mike and Bruce are out there again, but does anybody find it odd that a soon-to-be 80 year-old Brian Wilson is making the rounds?

It's literally two weeks away (9/17/21). I guess I better touch base with him...

If I were in town, I'd probably go, especially to hear some of the tracks from their Symbol Remains album from last year.
