"Brian is too tall to be measured by our simple human systems of measurement, for he transcends even the idea of size. He is like an intense point of dark matter, whose mass is incomprehensible."

"[T]he most pressing problem has to do with the oceans, because they are the major producers of oxygen in our atmosphere. So, kill the oceans, we stop breathing. That’s just a fact."(*Margaret Atwood*, in the Dutch TV show College Tour last night)

"[Cassie J. Sneider of The] Rumpus: If you were in a bus accident with the Beach Boys and melted onto one member—into a mutant showcasing both of your positive and negative qualities—who would you choose and why?
"[Author Jeanne] Thornton: Probably Dennis Wilson! He would be fun because he's so completely crazy and adventuresome, and I'm less adventuresome, so it'd be a good combination of strengths, whereas my sensible side would curb his horrible destructive tendencies. It would depend on who got to be the legs, maybe."(From *The Rumpus Interview with Jeanne Thornton*, 7 November 2012)

"This is like 1/3 of my argument for the entire solo oeuvre past BW '88 being delisted and suppressed once BW passes."

"Truly Wikipedia is the Amerigo Vespucci of obscure unreleased Beach Boys Christmas music." [other poster: "... as we all know, while America was named after Amerigo Vespucci, neither Columbus or Vespucci was the first to discover the Americas."] "Does that make Slowinski the Clovis People of obscure Beach Boys Christmas music, or the Norseman?"
(An eloquent JH at EH regarding the provenance of an instrumental track intriguingly entitled "Christmas Eve" whose chord progression is now known to be identical to that of the ASL outtake "Let's Live Before We Die" [with thanks to sloopjohnb])

"My dream is to get called (by whom I have no idea) to play one of the very few orchestral mandolin parts with an orchestra, or even better, an opera orchestra. Mahler has several, Verdi has the nice mandolin part in Otello, Stravinsky wrote for it in Agon, Prokofiev in Romeo & Juliet, Mozart in Don Giovanni... There are some others. I'm available, major symphony and opera orchestras of the world. I'll do it for free."

I don't know if this quote is true, but if it is, it's beautiful. Ringo Starr/Yogi Berra level stuff. (I saw it tweeted by music promoter Eric Alper.)
"I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same."
- Angus Young of AC/DC.

I'm fairly certain this is true.

"Maybe 'Steve Schwartz' (has he ever been called Stephen or Steven?) was a pseudonym used after his death (and/or during his brief time with Brian) to protect his family from the glare of publicity."
(jk, ruminating on the almost total lack of information on Brian's ill-fated doctor)
