Farewell to the King (James) until next season!
I have to admit, I like that the Lakers exited.
ESPN and TNT don't.

That's for sure: NYK and LAL out, LAC on the ropes. Not great for the bigger markets this season. Below are the playoff teams in descending order of metropolitan area population. (The first two and second two are in the same markets, and so are sorted alphabetically.)
BKN
NYK
LAC LAL
DAL WAS
MIA
PHI ATL PHO BOS
DEN POR
MIL MEM
UTA

Only one championship team/franchise of the last 37 years is still in contention.

Only one championship team/franchise of the last 37 years is still in contention. I find that part of it refreshing. It's fun to see someone new step up. And frankly I still think there is a lot of star power. Whether it's Giannis or Luka or Kawhi or Jokic or Booker or Trae or Embiid or Mitchell, there is still a lot of top talent. (I'm omitting BKN because I despise that team so much, I don't want to think about it.)

Another questionable playoff decision by 76ers coach, Doc Rivers. He started the game with Danny Green guarding Trae Young. Young immediately went off and before you know it, and combined with several turnovers, the Sixers were down 20+ points.

No one can guard Trae Young. After watching how well the Hawks played against the Knicks defense, and hearing that Embiid was a gametime decision, I had a feeling the Hawks would win game 1.
Wild finish to the game, though. I caught the end.

I was sad to see the Clippers top Dallas to move on. Really was rooting for Luka & Co., and think Dallas has to be creative this offseason to build a better roster. And they either need to get more from Porzingis or find a way to get value for him.
Hawks beating Philly in Game One of Round 2 is not something I'd have expected if you asked me as the season was getting underway last fall...(or winter, whenever this weird season started).

Today is the 28th anniversary of the death of Croatian shooting guard Drazen Petrovic. He only had a few good NBA seasons after beginning his American career languishing on Portland's bench. But in the 1992-93 season, he averaged 22.3 ppg shooting nearly 52 FG% and 45 3pt% as well as 3.5 apg. He was third-team All-NBA that season.
Petrovic can probably be credited as the first European guard to really excel in the NBA without playing American college basketball. He was also fearless the previous summer, when he scored 24 against the Dream Team in Barcelona.

That was a long time ago. Since Nate McMillan took over they’ve been one of the best teams in the league. I still think people are overlooking them thinking that the Knicks lost due to Randle’s offensive struggles as opposed to the Hawks winning.

It's also interesting that they are yet another example of a team that seemed all-in on a youth-movement rebuild, only to change course and find their success with vets. Trae Young is of course one of their prized youngsters, and John Collins is a bit older but still arguably part of that. But are Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter, Onyeka Okongwu, De'Andre Hunter really the main cogs in their winning? Arguably not as much as Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela, Danilo Gallinari, Solomon Hill, Tony Snell...

I can’t believe they tossed Jokic for, essentially, hitting the ball too hard. Turning that game off...
(It’s really too bad Jamal Murray is out. As good as the Suns are, I’m not sure they beat a healthy Nuggets team. It would have been a heck of a series.)

Speaking of injuries, that Kyrie injury, with Harden already out, is tough. Bucks got a real shot at coming out of the East now. It’s crazy how quickly things can turn. They looked done after game 2.

I'm very sad to see the Nuggets out. Murray could have made a huge different, though I have to give Phoenix credit.
As for the Nets ... screw 'em! I hope Kyrie isn't seriously hurt with that ankle ... but that he decides to sit because he's sad or contemplating the flat earth or something. Or that he plays, goes 2-31 (with 2 assists) to close out the series, and they lose both games. Really however they lose would be fine with me.

Looks like Kawhi IS out, and Chris Paul might be out for Phoenix, too (COVID protocols).
Rough playoffs, injury-wise.
