Good morning friends!
We will be back Tuesday at 3:00 EST in order to accommodate our UK friends! We will discuss our top Essential BB songs for non fans, The Beatles vs. The Beach Boys, Many Moods of Matt, and Greg will play live requests! We will also discuss why some BB albums performed better in the UK than in the US. Should be a lot of fun and hope you will join us!

Sorry I missed the show, but couldn't breakaway from work. Hopefully I can catch it on YouTube.

Wow, these sessions are long! Rather than disrespectfully skim through this UK-heavy instalment, I'll watch it in stages over the next two or three days, starting right now. I lived in the UK during the 1970s (and long before) and was aware of the different attitude there to BB music, so it should make interesting viewing!

They are long, but you should also know there is lead time before the shows really get started. For example, this one, the show doesn't really begin for just about 40 minutes of the video. Then from around the 2 hr 30 minute mark, it's the music/request portion where they take song requests, discuss some, and Greg plays them. So that's about 80 minutes that aren't exactly the show (though the music request part is part of the show, just not the same as the interview stuff).
Hope that helps a bit in your planning. You don't need to set aside 3+ hours...but maybe as much as 2 1/2, depending on what you're most interested in.

Thanks, Cap'n. I've just been watching up to the moment when David Beard makes his exit (pity his mic was a bit on the low side). I'll watch the rest tomorrow. Fascinating stuff, as are the chat comments. (One or two familiar names in there.) I've only watched part of another episode before now, the one with AGD. I wonder how many Brits watching or commenting were around and musically aware in 1963 when The Beatles ruled the UK but had yet to break through in the States? The US music scene was still very much intact, before the British Invasion changed everything the following year...

It really does intrigue me that so many BB albums that tanked in the US did well in the UK.

And the repercussions continued for decades. Think: Brian Wilson, architect of the 1960s California dream-in-music, debuted both Brian Wilson Presents Smile and That Lucky Old Sun in the UK. It should be a national embarrassment that Lincoln Center or something didn't commission those works.

Hey beachboystalkmatt , hope you're feeling better now. I just watched the last hour. Love the repartee with the chatters (plenty of familiar names there from EH). My goodness Greg is musical. And versatile -- his valiant take on The Who's "Baba O'Reilly" was awesome! Take care now and thanks for a great show.
