After a hiatus of posting for a few years, it's back! These numbers are calculated from 6/17/20-6/17/21. Of note, Big Sur is already up to #135 all time after only being released for a few weeks. It's up another 10 spots as of this writing. That speaks to how big streaming is with new releases, and hopefully a good sign of interest for the upcoming boxset. For reference, TWGMTR, the lead single from the last album, only has 1.6 million streams thus far. Imagine how many it would have if it were released today. Hopefully we'll find out with a C60 lead single. Let me know if you would like to see the data another way or have any questions! Average number of streams per album:

I also keep track of rolling monthly streaming numbers compared to other artists of their era. As you can tell, I'm not as good at keeping up with it:

I also keep track of the BBs daily rank and increase in followers as well as rolling monthly streams, but that is a little more labor intensive to post. As you can see from the chart above, they generally hover in the 380-500 (rank) range with them rising to the mid to low 200s during the Christmas season.

Apologies for the huge picture in the second post. Imgur was being wacky and wouldn't allow me to resize properly. Might want to zoom out on your web browser.

Incredible! I could spend hours analyzing it!
What do the asterisks denote in the 2nd post?

Incredible! I could spend hours analyzing it! What do the asterisks denote in the 2nd post? One asterisk means I pulled the number from two sources (a lot of times mono and stereo are counted separately) and two means three sources (compilations sometimes have separate numbers). There might be one on there with three, which is the same situation.

I didn’t plan to comment so soon, but I can’t believe the results for “Here She Comes”! Apparently, it’s (by far) the most popular song on CATP (with “Marcella” being the 4th). Not only that but it appears to be top 50 overall - beating out the likes of...well...just look for yourself!

This is impressive. I'm a little surprised at the very high number for Little Saint Nick, considering it's a seasonal song.

I was thinking that, too, but then again, think about how popular it is among seasonal songs. Once Christmas comes, it's got to be one of the absolutely top choices for people, right up there with the Mariah Carey song. There's more competition for "I want to listen to a classic rock and roll song" than for "I want to listen to a [pop/rock] Christmas song."

That's true, and I noticed the jump from 74M to 100M from one year to the most recent season. I remember, it might've been posted here, a story that streaming of classic Christmas music went through the roof in 2020, maybe a longing for a simpler time after such a shitty year. A bunch of classic Christmas albums cracked the Top 20 if I remember correctly.

The hot 100 for the week of Christmas is usually filled with Christmas songs. The Beach Boys ironically have more unique listeners at Christmas than in the summer.

It's interesting that the Beach Boys summer hits don't seem to register in the mainstream in recent years as much as their Christmas music. At least on FM radio, you almost never hear anything other than Kokomo. But at Christmas time, it's a different story.

I think it's more that people just have Christmas playlists running in the background at Christmas, at parties and family gatherings, whereas summer playlists *exist* but people are just more likely to put on their usual playlists or generic party playlists. Listening to Christmas music at Christmas is basically mandatory in our culture but summer music you can replace with your own choice
