Hello friends!
Beach Boys Keyboardist from 1969-1981, Carli Munoz joins us LIVE this Tuesday! Hope you can join us - 8pm EST on Facebook live, Twitch, and Youtube. It should be a very interesting conversation! Additionally, we will discuss our favorite Beach Boys name songs. We will also speak with David Beard for our Endless Summer Quarterly Q and A, and Greg will play live requests! Hope to see you all there on Tuesday!

Bumping to promote this.
If you haven't checked out Beach Boys Talk episodes, they're great shows. There's something for everyone, between fan polls and Top 5 lists, live music, and interviews with some really good guests (such as Carli Munoz).

I enjoyed the show last night. Carli's brutal honesty was refreshing to hear, and we got a bonus impromptu performance on the piano to boot! I'm always fascinated by the twists and turns in the former Beach Boys' musicians'/associates' lives...where they've been and what they're up to today.

I wouldn't have guessed "Leaving This Town" as Munoz's favorite BBs song to play live. Though hearing him discuss it, it does make sense. "That's where I got to really stretch out," he says, which with him being a jazz musician makes a lot of sense: he'd be less interested maybe in plugging in specific parts here or there and more into just getting a chance to, as he said, stretch out.

And the one-word descriptions of each guy were really interesting, too. In some ways, not remotely surprising and in line with various things you hear. But that he comes out and says things, well, let's just say it's obvious which side of the band's factions Carli fell in with.
For those who haven't watched:
Brian: Genius Carl: Kindness Dennis: Jokester
Al: Conservative
Bruce: Two-faced Mike: Greedy

And to close it out, the live performance of jazz-instrumental "Surfer Girl" was really enjoyable. Kudos on another really good episode, beachboystalkmatt

Carli was really interesting and he gave many insights into the band. We were floored when he played live on the show. That was not planned nor was it expected!

One thing I only just thought of now, Carli's tenure lasted a few eras: the (reportedly, though he denied it) less popular late 60s and earliest 70s; the popular "cool comeback" live show of the Rieley years; the "Brian's Back" era; and the semi-trainwreck of the later 70s and early 80s.
It would be interesting to hear him talk about how he felt as a band member about the different eras of the band, the differences in how they presented themselves and were understood by fans. (Wish I'd thought of that before the show so I could've asked that it be asked!)
