I just ordered The Beach Boys/Chicago 1975 Chicago Stadium 3 CDR set from RZ Records in Japan. I know the audio is fan recorded. What can I expect sound quality wise? I love watching what little video I can find of this tour on YouTube, and I adore Chicago, especially the Terry Kath Years, so I thought I needed this.

I hope you get a lot of pleasure out of it.

I bought quite a few Pink Floyd audience recorded live boots when I was getting into them in the late 90s. The quality was always pretty spotty, some of them almost unlistenable and muffled. Some were quite good for audience tapes. It helps that Floyd audiences were often very quiet.

I have only listened to the third CD, which has The Beach Boys and Chicago together on Wishing You Were Here, God Only Knows, Darlin’, Saturday In The Park and California Girls. The continuous audience hand clapping Is very annoying and the vocals can cut in and out, but you can definitely hear Carl on Wishing You Were Here. The Chicago Live in 75 version is better since it is pro recorded, but I like this version as well. Also Terry Kath’s beautiful voice sounds so nice live. The first time I heard Darlin’, I thought, Wow, Carl sounds awful, then realized that it was Peter Cetera singing the lead! It’s not great, but it is a fun listen. I think I will listen to the second CD with the Chicago stuff next. Hopefully there isn’t hand clapping on every song! Surely it will stop for Color My World. It did for God Only Knows.

Then you're probably familiar with this one: bootlegpedia.com/en/product/Sirene-176I was lent the original LP (that's CDs 3 and 4) in the late '70s and made a tape of it, which I still have. It's true, the audience is wonderfully quiet! As you know, I'm not much of a fan of post-Syd Floyd (or live albums) but this is a super concert! I've posted this compilation of excerpts to avoid the needlessly explicit album cover.)

I really hope that there are at least some good soundboard recordings from a Beachago show or two that get an official release one of these days.

I thought I read somewhere that some of the tapes were lost to the Caribou Ranch fire, but I have never see confirmation of that. I did watch Chicago's New Year's Rockin' Eve - 1975 today on You Tube to see some footage of the bands together. This led me down the rabbit hole of Chicago videos, so I had to watch the Terry Kath Experience for the 3rd time and a bunch of interviews with Robert Lamm. Then I had to listen to Like a Brother .... Husband is out of town 😊
