I just think that logistically speaking/thinking, there's a lot to take care of, and I would think that has to be done well in advance. If a TV special is being filmed, they have to book a studio, producer, crew, etc. With concerts you have venues to book. With the guest artists (plural), you have multiple schedules to coordinate. Even the backing band, who ever that turns out to be, while I'm sure they would probably "drop everything", you have to let them know. If there is any type of album to be released that involves some planning, and I say this in all seriousness, we know how they need sufficient time and can botch parts of them. Does anybody put it past Mike and Brian, or specifically their management, to book gigs right through 2022 and then at the last minute say, "Well, nobody told me we were to plan for (whatever)..." But just because nothing has been publicly announced, that does not mean nothing is being planned. For all we know, the date(s) is set, the other acts are lined up, and everything is in the works. That's my main point, and disagreement with the thrust of your posts on this topic.
As for Iconic wanting early chatter (as another part of that post said, but I wanted to focus on the above part more), maybe. But we're WAY early. Start too early and it's just hanging out there for an eternity, with fans grumbling how long it's taking for anything to appear. As TCK said, there will be other stuff going on. And seriously, it's entirely possible that they are catering to Brian by letting his new products appear before they announce things ... or even that announcements are planned to coincide with those releases (as opposed to their announcements coinciding with Brian's announcements).
I just think it's very premature to think an opportunity has been missed when we don't even know what will happen!

Well, I’m still hopeful that there will at least be a couple of “reunion” concerts, maybe with one televised, but what I would really like to see is a serious documentary that doesn’t breeze over the 1967-1972 time frame.

I see that Mike and Bruce are still getting hammered for taking the band on a cruise for a few days. I didn't realize that these cruises were such a bad thing. I know KISS, Alice Cooper, EmmyLou Harris, Joe Bonamassa, and The Moody Blues have done them. Oh, the legacy...
Hey, remember this? Sail away!

It's just like playing fairgrounds, or playing greatest hits shows, etc. It's all in who's doing the shows, not what the shows consist of.

I'll bet the Mike and Bruce bashers are completely unaware of what a typical Beach Boys show consists of now; not just the big hits, but lesser played songs like Little Honda, Hawaii, Do You Wanna Dance, All I Wanna Do, It's About Time, Feel Flows....wait....Feel Flows? Yes, you bashers!

(Then again, it's a hits tour, not a FF tour.) I don't see the link. At the time of the 50th...er...C50, I seriously thought that was the end for the group, and imagined Mike touring for another 5 years or maybe 10. Now we're knocking on the door of C60 (I love that...and will be eagerly awaiting C90), and Mike shows no signs of slowing down. Brian? Well, he'll be onstage as long as someone wants to wheel him out there. So if we do get even a small tour for C60, will we be satisfied? Or begging them in another ten years for a 70th anniversary show? I guess that's the nature of fandom - we're never satisfied. We finally got the Feel Flows set, now we are looking ahead to a CATP/Holland box. We still want new original music from Brian and/or the reunited group....preferably an entire album. Will there be a time when we no longer expect or want things from the group? If so, is that the end of fandom? I'm past the point where I feel the need to own EVERYTHING. I listened to No Pier Pressure a few times, nothing grabbed me, so I didn't buy it. I bought Al's cd - I would buy another from him, but we'll be dead before he ever completes another one. I bought Unleash the Love, but passed on Mike's Xmas disc and the other one (12 Sides of Summer? I know it's got summer in the title). All of these things I've listened to, but my collecting has gotten a lot pickier in recent years.

Apologies, forgot to paste it. (Hopefully since I gave the URL, industrious people figured it out.) In the interim, more have been posted, so here is a more recent one (Oct. 12). Similar songs to make my point from earlier.

I think being satisfied, not wanting more, would be contrary to human nature as it relates to fandom. Intellectually we know it has to end, we know the best is behind us, we probably know that whatever comes out will likely be worse than what has come before.
But because we love what has come before, of course we want more of it.
Would you like to have a piece of cake/pie? No thanks, I've had one before. Would you like to watch the big game? No thanks, I've seen games before.
Would you like to have sex? No thanks, I've done it before.
I would say reaching a point of not being curious for more, not wanting more, would be either mean reaching some superhuman nirvana where reason can overcome emotion, or it would mean losing the love for the band.

I've been advocating for C60 concerts (plural), a new album, a TV special, and other goodies for awhile now. However, due to some recent things - and I hope I'm wrong - I'm starting to become concerned about Brian's physical condition. I saw a recent YouTube video of Brian singing "Help Me, Rhonda" which was very troubling. Then, I read that he is using a walker and has to be physically assisted on and off the stage. Apparently, he's playing very little piano, even less than usual. I saw a recent photo of Brian (see below) where he looks...older (is he in a wheelchair?). Almost every recent photo I see of him he appears to be seated. I don't know...he's bounced back in the past I guess...

There are plenty of bands that I'm a big fan of where I no longer buy new material. I think my finally embracing Spotify has sort of squashed my old need to collect every new release from artists I like, especially if I'm going to just listen once and put it away forever.

If you want to see Brian Wilson rally with energy and excitement you get him on stage with the surviving Beach Boys. I've been advocating for C60 concerts (plural), a new album, a TV special, and other goodies for awhile now. I saw the recent Help Me Rhonda vid, and it was odd that Brian started off singing the song instead of Al. Brian sings a line, then his face turns to a frown. He sings another line, then the frown returns. I feel like I am watching a guy who is doing what he's doing because there's no other choice. People keep telling me "you are so wrong, Brian LOVES touring...staying in hotels, seeing the towns, riding in the plane...and performing for fans who love him uncritically, unconditionally". I know of a similar group of fans who just worship the ground a certain man walks on. Instead of Brianistas, I call them Paulina's.
